the only problem with not using a 3d base is i am so much slower at it. but with the mirror drawing tools i can come ups with designs much more freely

so im a bit miffed with myself. i was trying for a painterly look of shapes without comic style line work.....as soon as i give in to the temptation the whole image just starts to "pop"
so i just need to practice more but not on this folio. once im done with this painting i will put in the line work that makes it pop too

I had finihsed a study in oil ( the skull) and i felt pumped about doing a folio image in oil so i tried out on a krystal image....OOOOH BOY was i not ready. the colors were very ugly so i put it aside and tried out some acyla gouache but on bristol paper...that was another mistake as the bristol started to flake up on me. THEN i tried printing out on water color paper. this time i just painted one section at a time to see what i would get. the odd thing is i was using...

ok so i get better results faster if i focus on one section at a time rather then trying to do every folio image at once when painting. i have an oil study to post as soon as it dries....i used a lot of fast drying medium so it wont be THAT long
