I must say I had fun last night. It was interesting how similar the mortals of this world were to the humans of Earth. They still managed to allow their desires control them. Not that I was much better. When I was a human, I hated other humans, thus I created machines. In the end, I was hated by my own creations. Most of them anyways. A few remained on my side until they were destroyed by their brothers and sisters.
Set and I left Raven near the forest leading to the dungeon. I hoped to see her back before the end of the day, but I planned for her being out for at least two days. I made sure to give her strict orders not to kill a certain person if she happened to see him. Only and even then, in the strictest of senses in self-defense was she allowed to retaliate.
Back at the dungeon, I stared at the empty factory floor. I really needed to decide what creature to use in here. None of them really fit the bill though. I formed all the summoning circles in front of me. If it came down to it, I would just pick at random. There wasn’t enough room and one of the circles formed over top another. I thought the magic would get canceled out but instead they merged.
Interesting. I played with it for a while until I got a magic circle that took a decent amount of mana. I knew it would create a humanoid type monster. I just wasn’t sure how it would turn out. It could be an even worse off goblin. With a mental shrug, I allowed the mana to flow.
At first, I thought I managed to summon a human. That was what the silhouette looked like after all. After a few moments, the skin formed, and I sighed when I saw it was green. It looked like this was going to be a failure. At least, it wasn’t ugly and nearly crippled. In fact, it looked like a green human.
The head formed and I found the creature possessed four stubby horns on its crown. Along with a decent set of fangs. When the magic was finished. I was reminded of the Japanese Oni. All he was missing was a loincloth and a club. That or samurai armor.
“Can you understand me?” I asked. It could be a physical based monster that I couldn’t use for anything other than brute force. While that had appeal for certain projects around the dungeon. For my factory, I needed both brawn and brain.
He kneeled and placed his fists on the ground on either side of him before replying. “Yes, Kami.” I saw the ground ripple slightly under his fist. He appeared to have a connection to the terra mana around him.
Using my senses, I examined him to see what exactly he was capable of. It looked like merging the magics had been a good idea after all. By taking the goblin summon and mixing it with Raven’s partial elemental form, the Rakshasas, and even a bit of the undeath, I was able to create this demon from Earth.
I wondered if they already existed somewhere on this planet. I just hoped they didn’t get me in trouble with the church. At least… not yet. That would be down the road. After I’ve crippled the people with my drugs. I learned last night of a place that was open for grabs. The north was an undead wasteland. I doubt anyone would mind if I swept in and laid claim to it.
“I… I don’t have any memories of this creature,” Set said after she looked the oni over several times. She even went so far as to tap its face with her tiny hand. I almost laughed at her seemingly disbelief of the creature’s existence.
“Is it possible that you don’t know all the creatures on the planet?” I mean thinking about it logically that was several billion species. I found it hard to believe, even magically, that she could all know all the races. Not only did biology play a role, but magic. That could only led to even more races.
“Of course, but I know all the humanoid types. Even monsters. I have no recollection of this creature.”
“Well… It wouldn’t be the first time I created something I shouldn’t.” The machines did gain sentience thanks to me. It would be fitting to create oni in this world as they were supposedly driven by destruction. The asura for example, or that might be a different religion.
Turning back to the factory floor, I recreated the oni summoning circle. I made sure to influence it towards blacksmithing and forging. Making it specialized like that did require more mana but hopefully it would be worth it. With a flash, another oni was standing in front of me. He had red skin with three horns. I found his overall strength was a bit higher than the first oni after checking him.
“Kami!” the second oni shouted kneeling with his fists on the ground like the first one had.
“I’m going to call you Nazir. I want you to practice forging and crafting. I will be summoning you some competition in a bit, but I want to see how you do.”
As the floor was based off Envy, the various crafters will be vying to make better weapons and equipment compared to their neighbors. I would have to be clear that sabotage was a big no-no. This was a floor for mostly my own benefit after all. You would only be rewarded for your legit work.
Nazir jumped right to work. I again found magic to be wonderful as it gave him basic knowledge on everything he needed to forge. That cut down the process by several days of basic training. He went straight to work pulling finished ingots over to a forge. Once the ingot glowed red, he pulled it out and started hammering it.
I was glad I made a fully stock forge. While I didn’t know what exact tools my workers would need, I created everything and then some of all the tools I remembered from Earth. It felt like it only took a few seconds before the ingot had the shape of a sword. After a few repeats of heating and hammering, Nazir quenched the blade.
“How does it look?” he asked presenting the blade to my mental projection.
I took it and examined it with my senses. I was impressed I couldn’t find any cracks or fissures. With a good sharpening this would be one dangerous weapon. “It is good for your first try,” I said after handing it back.
He nodded giving the blade a critical look. “I knew the method to forge it, but it felt foreign. Next time should be much better. I already had a few ideas to improve the process.”
“Very good. Once you get proficient with steel and iron. I want you to start working on higher level metals. We need to get you to the point you can forge guns.”
“As you command, Kami,” Nazir said doing the Oni salute. He got up and got back to work. He wasn’t lying, I could tell he felt much more confident about what he was doing now. Set and I watched for maybe half an hour more before I felt a strong wave of mana wash into the dungeon.
Turning my gaze in the direction of the entrance, I saw the marquis and his party along with the little baroness and her party. I squinted which didn’t make sense as I didn’t have eyes when I saw a blur around the party. The hard I tried to get a closer look the harder it became to see them.
“Set. I can’t watch the party that just walked in with my dungeon sense.”
She moved over to the wall and phased through it to look at the gathering area in front of the entrance. “They are tier two. When a bunch of them get together like in a party. The host can’t watch them as easily.”
“Well that just won’t stand.”
“Master?” Set asked with a raised eyebrow.
I moved down to the first floor and created a small pyramid on the ceiling. I made the tip out of glass and spelled it to capture all the light reflected in it. From there I created a sort of program that would compile the images into a video. Thanks to my Gold-platinum alloy, I could create decent sized spell constructs without losing quality.
I linked the pyramid to a receiver on an upper floor. I created a room under the lake near my core. The pyramids detecting motion would notify me and broadcast those unless I specified otherwise. Quickly growing one on the outer surface above the entrance, I took a better look at the party that was about to attempt the dungeon.
“This is amazing master. Too bad be cannot hear them,” Set said looking at the screen with wide eyes. I grinned raising a finger. Of course, I added audio to the system. I mean that was actually easier than images as sound was slower than light. I turned the volume up so we could hear what was being said. “Astounding!”
“This is my dungeon. I’m not about to allow people free reign in here that could end me.”
That being said, the cameras were a fairly mana intensive creation. I went ahead and covered the first ten floors, but just doing that cut my mana down by nearly half. Not to mention there were more feeds than I could rightfully keep track. I would have to create a being that could process all this information. For now, though, there was only the one party that I had trouble seeing.
With the issue dealt with for the moment, we turned to the screen and watched the two parties prepare to enter the dungeon. Personally, I was focused on the two knights that were bound by a chain. They interested me the most as I felt the unholy mana from it. If I could develop some curses that would increase my power by even more.
“This is captivating. It has been a long time since there was a tower dungeon,” Valamar said as he looked over the dungeon. One of his party members, the priest I think, walked towards the entrance with a sack. Tossing it in, he turned and walked back to the rest of his party.
I absorbed the bag, shocked by the huge spike in mana I received from the various items inside. I did have to laugh when I found saltpeter among the apothecary items. A few metals that I quickly had ideas for including mithril. I’d heard plenty of rumors from my captives and while in town. The last item was a mana stone that was partially filled.
This one couldn’t have been naturally formed, as there was a rune inside with electrum as the conductor. Still it was a nice gain and would let me increase my monsters’ strength outside the dungeon easier. I would need to thank the marquis when I got the chance.
Turning from my unexpected spoils, I saw the little baroness staring worriedly between the priest and the entrance. Given that she was suspicious of my other form and had dealings with my main form as well, she was likely and rightly worried that whatever the Marquis gave me would boast my power.
“Man!” I wish I had some popcorn,” I mumbled as I sat back and watched the show about to take place.
