Halloween Preview/ Otherworld Gameboard

Evening everyone. I've tried writing a few different versions, but everytime I put Oberon, Regan, and Earle in the same room this sort of just happens. Throwing in my other MCs didn't help the situation much. lol. In another version, I was able to get some of them to work together, but there is a definite split in personaility and what not. Anyways. This is what i have for the halloween special so far. I planned on writing a third or so of the book before halloween and uploading the entire thing for the special. I'm just worried that everyone is expecting something a bit more light hearted. Well, either way let me know down below. The more comments the better. If everyone does like this I will be adding quite a bit of detail to the chapter. As for why its under Lex's POV, The other MCs were just so big that I felt it would overpower it.

Chapter 1 Lex

I snapped my eyes open, only to see a pitch-black nothing. Not the first time I’ve had something like this happen to me, I sent out my senses. Even with my superior hearing and smell, I couldn’t detect anything which was a first. There was always a smell. With no other choice since I literally couldn’t move, I decided to wait for the currents to rise on their own.

It didn’t take long. Spotlights appeared, illuminating people with a loud thud sound as it moved around a table. When the light illuminated me, I found Imperia and Scarlet slightly behind me. I tried to call out to them, but nothing happened. Grinding my teeth, I took in the other people in the room.

Next to my group, there was an android if I didn’t miss my guess. He was staring at one of the other groups in the room. He had a regal looking woman and a slightly shorted girl with him. Just looking at them, I could feel the power radiating from them. They were powerful.

Further down the circle, was a man that looked like he had no muscles or blood in his body with how pale he was. There was a tiny girl, which I wasn’t sure was a child or not, along with another girl that looked about to be entering her late teens. That didn’t detract from the almost sinister vibes this group was giving off. This group also gave up a sense of power, especially the man in the center.

On the other side of the table passed the sinister group was another evil looking group. The man in the center of this group was tall with dark hair and a set of horns. He also had two women with him, both were quite beautiful by my standards. Something felt similar to the android’s group, but I couldn’t put my finger on it.

The last group before mine was the only one with another female in the forefront position like me. She had a ghostly appearance but otherwise appeared to a be a normal girl. She had a man with a large horn and a… man or woman, I couldn’t tell, as her seconds.

“Welcome! Welcome! Some of you may not know me, but I am Creation!”

“And I am Destruction!”

Turning at the sound and I spotted a figure made from light walking down a flight of stairs. Next to him was a figure made from nothing. The only reason I knew the figure was there was the light around it was being pulled into the spot. It reminded me of a blackhole. I noticed that the android and the man with dark hair and horns had some reaction to the two beings.

“We are having a game of sorts.”

“Participation is mandatory.”

Creation waved his hand and a map formed over the table. It soon grew to show an entire planet. “This is the gameboard.”

Destruction waved her hand. I felt something form in my hand. When I tired to move it, I found that I could. There was a die with six sides. “Roll.” Against my will, I raised my hand and tossed the die towards the table as did the others. The die jumped around and spun before mine landed on a three. “You will chose based on your roll.”

“Good luck as always I see. Azaria,” Creation said as he looked at the girl.

“So, I’ve been told,” Azaria said a little cross. Something told me there was more to the story there.

“Please choose,” Creation said with a gesture.

She furrowed her brow staring at the map. With a shrug, she chose a large plains area that was bordered by some forests. The girl then moved back stiffly to her spot.

“You’re turn Regan. I have to say, I’m almost not surprised to see you here.”

“What can I say? It might just be a talent.” The android, Regan, looked at the map then back to Creation. “What have you involved me in this time?”

Creation smiled, the light spilling from the slit like mouth. “Like we said. A game.” He waved his hand and hundreds of sections on the map lit up. Regan was able to walk up and obverse map. I wasn’t sure if there was a time limit, but the android apparently didn’t need too much.

“I suppose here,” Regan said pointing at a coastal area. Creation nodded then all the sections in that area vanished. I guess we couldn’t choose too close to each other.

“My Champion. I think I’ll go with Earle to avoid confusion I expect good things from you on this as well,” Destruction said as the dark-haired man moved up for his turn.

“I may have signed up last time, but if I’m going to be your cleaning man, we might need to renegotiate our terms,” he said rubbing his chin as he took in the map.

“Where’s the fun in that?”

Earle finally chose an area bordered by mountains. With his body moving back to its place, that meant it was my turn. Under someone else’s control, my body walked up to the table. “A bit of journey you’ve been on. Miss Lex,” Creation said with a chuckle.

“Thanks?” I replied not sure if he was mocking me or he genuinely meant it.

“Choose.”

I looked the map over. There was still plenty to choose, but I looked for a spot a decent ways away from the android, Regan. I wasn’t sure what we were going to be doing, but this felt like the set up for a competition and I really didn’t want to fight someone that was radiating as much power as he was from the start.

I found a hex on another continent that was off the coast, but judging from the map, only a few days away if we needed to get to the ocean for whatever reason. It placed me near the Azaria girl, but there wasn’t much I could do about that. My body was forced back once I choose the spot.

“Oberon. I like you almost as much as Earle,” Destruction said with an almost purr.

“I’m always one to please the ladies. Though, I’ve never met you before.”

“Curious, are you? Maybe someday you’ll find out more. Choose.”

The pale man didn’t even look before he slammed his hand down on a spot. It was a mountain on the same continent as Earle and Regan. Right between the two of them at that. “Come at me, and you’ll meet the same fate as everyone else that has challenged me,” Oberon threatened as he looked everyone in the eye.

“Thank you, Oberon.” Creation flicked his hand, and Oberon slid back to his spot. “Here is the game. You will all descend onto the Otherworldly Game Board. You will build up your nation. The last one standing is the winner. If you die, you will be sent back to your original universe with your memories erased. Do not try to forfeit. You will just die in that scenario.”

How the hell was I supposed to build a nation? Why was I chosen in the first place? There were too many things I just didn’t understand, but I guess I had to play whether I liked it or not. I wasn’t sure the beings could read minds, but he had said it right as I thought about it.

“What do you get when you win, you ask?” Destruction started. “Why, that’s a secret!”

“That’s the gist of it. More will be explained when you get started. Ah. Time is standing still in your original universe, so if you make it ten minutes or ten thousand years. You will be returned to the spot we took you, none the wiser.”

“Have fun! We’ll be watching!” Destruction cheered before the ground dropped from under me. The next thing I knew I was standing on a wide plain with a gentle breeze rolling through the air.

“You’ve got to be kidding me!?”

“Lex? There was an anomaly. My timestamp is off.” At least Echo was still here. I had been worried about him when I couldn’t hear anything from him in the strange room.

“Echo. We’ve been wrapped up in something even more crazy.
