Holy Blood 12

Hey Guys! So I made an error. I thought I'd written a chapter for Monday while on my trip, I completely forgot that I'd uploaded it already, lol. I'll get it up tomorrow, Promise.

Chapter 12

The dark of night quickly overtook the area. And it was nearly pitch black too. There weren’t even any stars in the sky. Lulu and I had found a clearing just as the suns last rays vanished behind the horizon. We had encountered a bit of a problem though.

“What do you mean you don’t have your own tent?” Lulu demanded with her arms crossed. Doing so, however, made her chest bulge in her clothes and it was hard to look away. She snapped her fingers at me. “Up here mister.”

“Wizard was supposed to hook me up when it was time to camp. I didn’t expect for them all to die on the first day.”

“A likely story,” Lulu said with narrowed eyes.

“Look. I'll keep watch you just turn in for the night,” I said moving to lean against the tent's pole. I would have leaned against a tree, but it wasn’t safe to do so. The last thing I wanted was to be grabbed in the middle of the night by a fucking shadow beast. I had no doubt that something would try to attack us during the night, whether monsters or other players. I wasn’t going to make it easier for them.

She softened her expression. “I can summon a minion and actually control it thanks to my new class. It can keep watch,” she said. “It wouldn’t be right for me to make you sleep outside after defeating the boss. I should be dead.”

“Don’t you need a corpse?” I asked considering the proposal.

Her face dropped. “Shit.”

I burst out laughing. I couldn’t help it she looked so defeated. It’s just compared to Otris, Lulu came up a bit short. No pun intended. “Look. I want to play around him my status anyways. Just go ahead and turn in.”

“Fine.”

She crawled into the tent with a huff. Smirking I turned back and opened my status screen.

The information had completely changed. I was truly playing a new class, though it looked like my focus was still on healing. And spreading the word of Otris. Glancing at the bowl that was slowly changing due to offering blood from players to her, I knew religion would play a strong role in this game. I couldn’t help but wonder how criminals would take to having to serve in the mechanism of beings of a higher power than them.

Putting that aside for now, I decided to summon my soldier. I needed to know if there was a constant drain to my AP or not. That would make using him a bit trickier down the road. Hopefully, it would allow me to strike out on my own. The biggest test would be to see if he could attack for me. That would really solve all my problems.

“Summon,” I said but nothing happened. Thinking about the magic of the game and of my goddess, I couldn’t help but smirk. I took the knife that was slowly changing red from all the cuts its made and poured some blood on the ground. “Summon.” The blood etched out some runes then the portal similar to the one in Otris’s domain opened. The same creature stepped out.

In the light of the campfire, it looked almost more unnerving than up there. It looked around before its gaze, or at least I think its gaze, settled on me. It did a salute or bow then stood, presumably waiting for orders.

“Umm, Hello,” I said not really sure what to say. I was met only with silence. Just shaking my head, I opened my status screen and was pleased to see that my AP wasn’t going down. It wasn’t going back up either. “So, a permanent reduction while summoned. That must be why it was labeled in the status screen. Huh? What’s this?” I tapped a mark that appeared on my screen and another popped up next to it.

Name: N/A

Race:

Fallen Soul: A soul that was fallen from grace and seeking redemption. Serving the Goddess Otris is its form of redemption.

Class: Spear Warrior

Level: 21

LP: 3100 AP:3100

Curses:

Boons: Child of Otris

EXP: N/A

“I looked forward to serving the Goddess with you. Do you remember your name?” I asked looking up at the face plate. It seemed to focus on me for a second then moved its spear in at an amazing speed. When it finished, it tapped its spear on the ground. I looked down and saw Mohr written. “Mohr. I like it. Well then Mohr, for your first… task. I want you to be on look out for the camp.” I got a nod in reply.

Yawning, I rubbed my eyes as I sat back down against the tent pole. I would stay awake for a few more hours then switch out with Lulu. Its hard to think that it had already been four days in this new world of mine. I needed to carve out a place for me to live. Some place I can call safe. Though, that thought almost made me laugh given who was in here with me.

Jerking awake, I looked around. The tent walls met my gaze as did the morning light through the tent entrance. I rubbed my face and pushed my way out. I found Lulu who was supposed to be on watch sound asleep against the tent. I just shook my head and nudged her with my foot.

“Rise and shine.” She groaned and turned over ignoring me. I gave her another kick, this time aiming for her butt, then glanced around for Mohr. I found him standing just about where I left him. Only he was accompanied by the corpse of a shadow beast, and a skeleton. Apparently, after I went to sleep there had been a bit of fun.

“Huh! Where am I?” Lulu said looking around nervously.

“Hell. You arrived yesterday. The demons will be along shortly to start torturing you,” I said chuckling.

“Abaddon. Its too early for that shit,” Lulu said groaning.

“Come on. I want to get some hunting done before we head back to the city to drop you off,” I said holding a hand out to her.

We made our way through the forest aiming in the general direction of the city. Lulu’s skeleton served as the point guard. The shadow creatures liked it just as much as flesh and blood people. We would throw our spells at it once it was wrapped up in the shadow tendrils. Muhr’s spear was quite deadly as well. It appeared to negate elemental effects, as it tore through the shadow and injury it without trouble.

“Abaddon… Can I travel with you?” Lulu asked a few hours on our trip back to the city.

I looked at her with a serious eye. She hadn’t tried anything… yet. I would like to give her the benefit of the doubt. It helped that by bringing her, I was essentially bringing along a potential army. With her skeleton and my soldier, we didn’t need any frontline fighters.

“Why?” I asked coming to a stop.

She stopped next to me with her head on her feet. “I’m… I’m scared. I didn’t want to be in the city in the first place. Do you know how many rapists were in prison when this… experiment happened?” she asked looking at me.

“Several hundred thousand no doubt,” I said tilting my head in thought.

“More! The city might be safe as long as the guards are there, but how long until they can no longer resist the players? Total chaos. Even if the best situation comes to pass, and several organizations take over and keep order. It wouldn’t be anything like the order we know.”

“I understand your predicament. That still isn’t enough for me to take you with me,” I said cruelly. I didn’t think she would be a dead weight, far from it in fact, but I wanted to see her resolve. I leaned against a tree after checking it was safe and waited for her answer.

She bit her lip as she thought. I could almost see the smoke coming from her head. Whatever she was in prison for must not involved intelligence. I don’t know what she finally came to, but she sighed and started walking towards me. I raised an eyebrow as I wondered what she was going to say.

When she did not say anything, but instead started pulling off her dress, I was sure my mouth dropped open. Before my brain caught up with what my eyes were seeing she managed to pull all her clothes off and was standing in the middle of the forest, completely naked with a skeleton and failed angel standing nearby.

“Whoa, whoa, whoa! What the hell are you doing!?” I asked trying to be a gentleman and cover my eyes even though the sight of her body was front and center in my mind.

“The only thing I have to offer. Take me with you and you can do whatever you want with me,” Lulu said pulling my arm between her ample chest.

“Alright! You win. You can tag along. Just put your clothes back on before something attacks you,” I said, sighing.

She didn’t move. She stared into my eyes, her hair barely covering her chest. Unconsciously, all my senses seemed to be focus on my hand which was resting against her navel. A few inches down… I killed that thought before it took root.

“Why? Don’t men turn into wolves at this point?” Lulu asked. I noticed that she was starting to tear up.

“Huh!? I would be all over you if we weren’t in the middle of a monster and player infested forest,” I replied with a growl. That and I had a goddess to consider. The last thing I need was a jealous goddess chasing me down. I would have to figure out that angle before I pursued an easier woman.

Lulu stopped crying and smiled at me. Then a blush that turned her scarlet took over her face. She covered herself with her hands as best she could and went to get her clothes. I rubbed my chin as I stared at her ass. It was just as nice as the rest of the package. I coughed as I realized what I was doing and turned around.
