This is one of those movies that not many people watch and those that watch, don’t always really understand the underlying message, and as you said, it could be interpreted in different ways too. The ending to me, I thought Donnie had lived the life and then time traveled back and when he woke up, he chose to stay in bed, knowing what would happen to him and I think he was happy because he knew that his mom loved him he knew that his dad loved him. He knew his sister was going to have a bright future. He knew that that crazy lady wasn’t crazy, she was just seeing something that other people couldn’t, and he got the chance to fall in love. He knew that the girl he fell in love with was gonna live because the whole reason she died was because of him. (No not technically, I know that, but it was the connection, knowing him brought her there that ended her life.) Anyway, my take on the ending there. Cult classic and what a cast! Brava! 👏 👏
