Shadrich reminds me of Uthor Underleaf, another unimpressive looking but shrewd hedge knight. Both characters have the appellation of a small animal (mouse and snail respectively) and they the serve to inform Brienne and her ancestor Dunk respectively of how little they understand of their current situation. I like the idea that Shadrich had heard stories of Littlefinger's duel for Catelyn, or perhaps even witnessed it, and made a connection no one else did: that Petyr Baelish is the one person in the Seven Kingdoms with motive, means, and opportunity to hide Sansa Stark.
