Naxos WIPs

Here are the WIP shots I have saved from my work process on my recent pinup, Naxos. I don't have too many saved, sadly, as I was quite focused on just getting this pinup done.

Originally, it started out as a sketch of Rada that I'd done last year for fun. For a while, I actually really struggled to get her pose right, and so let it rest for a good while and liked it enough to eventually finish her.

I'd not planned to add Roza to the piece, or even have them on holiday on some yacht somewhere. But, once I'd finished Rada, it seemed suitable to add her sister, looking back at her, clearly shocked at Rada's lack of usual shyness, probably taking some raunchy "Wish you were here" photos for a lucky guy back home. Something she'd not expect from her sister at all, as she's the more introverted and innocent one. ;)

Once both ladies were drawn, I then struggled with composition, which, I will admit, I think still weakens this image and makes it a little stilted and for a while, I was really struggling with the background to make it busy enough to fit both vixens in frame without leaving too much empty space.

Painting those bright, vivid colours in Greece was fun too, though I am still trying my best to add contrast AND light in a way that looks real, but this still eludes me, as the result is not quite what I saw in my head.

I was also conscious of not doing too much rendering on the characters this time and leaving the highlights and tone more subtle, which again I probably overdid as usual, but breaking this habit is hard for me as I get tunnel vision on details often.

Overall, I think this pic probably took me about 20 hours in total, and I'm glad I actually drew these twins together again. There must be more to come in the future!
