July's Previews! - Unity Council Marines & Brodie Loyalty Bonus

We're approaching the end of the Brodie's push against the dug-in defensive lines of the enemy trenches. We hope you've been enjoying this third wave of our historically inspired Trencher minis!

The UMC - Unity Marine Corps

Next month, staffer Dan is returning to our Afterlife universe, and has rebuilt the Unity Council's standing military infantry force - the Unity Marine Corps. The Unity Council Congress enjoys battlefield superiority across most theatres thanks to its professional and well-equipped soldiers; provided by, trained, and equipped by corporations with UC military contracts.

In the aftermath of the Cataclysm, the UMC are the most numerous professional soldiers on Earth, as the UC Congress holds the right to draft personnel from any of its loyal corporations. Despite their numbers, the UMC are well-equipped and well-trained, and have access to the Sphere, which can serve the most advanced battlefield tactical information directly to UMC battlefield commanders.

The UMC's standard armament is the UC Smart Rifle; a potent weapon, not because it is especially powerful in a traditional sense, but because it utilises an electronic targeting unit, allowing the weapon itself to assist with enemy detection and range finding, able to track a target in the viewfinder and semi-autonomously fire rounds when it detects barrel alignment is optimal.

State-of-the-art soldiers, the UMC were quickly formed into strike forces capable of deploying to any point within Council territory, or beyond, within hours. The Marine Corps have delivered a series of crushing blows to several renegade mega-corps. These traitors to the Council were all but annihilated in a matter of days.

Despite being beset on all sides by the Pan-Continental Republic and numerous smaller power blocs, the Marines have proven themselves to be an insurmountable defence for the Unity Council Congress, and their many wealthy corporate interests.

Brodie Loyalty Pack - Howell automatic rifles!

Staffer Cora has dug into some of the bizarre experimental weapons that the Brits trialled, and was most taken by the, quite possibly, most insane Lee-Enfield conversion there was; the Howell Automatic Rifle. An offset gas piston operated the bolt with a curved cam after each shot before a spring forced the bolt closed again. An extended 20-round magazine made better use of the increased rate of fire.

Because of the danger to the user, a hand guard and pistol grip were attached to the stock, and a large protruding tab stopped the user from putting their face in harms way. This may be the most "steampunk" weapon, that was seriously designed for actual service. Ultimately it was rejected by the army, but we couldn't help but create a version for our weird-world-war Brodie soldiers!

Quite apart from the Howell AR, Cora has added in a few more accessories for your trenchers, including a bone saw, medical bag, and binoculars, as well as stick grenades. There's also a set of kneeling legs for both the male and female leg joints coming too!
