Tips for playing with Vam: Download missing packages using the Open Package Manager

First, let's discuss var file detection in the AddonPackages folder (VaM 1.20.77.9). var files placed under the AddonPackages folder will be searched through the entire folder hierarchy.

It means that you can create and manage folders. For example, I can create a folder called NeMech and put only my works under it, or I can create a SCENE folder and put only my favorite works under it, etc.

Also, if you rename the AddonPackages folder (e.g. AddonPackages_org) and create an AddonPackages folder, VAM will ignore AddonPackages_org (it will recognize the AddonPackages folder). This can be used as a means of isolating the work if it cannot be viewed properly.

Specifically, you can try putting only the packages necessary to view the work in the AddonPackages folder you created and see if it works. It is your own responsibility whether or not you revert back to the original.

Now comes the main part.

1. Launch Open Package Manager from the VaM UI as shown in the figure.

2. Select the target package from the "Installed packages" field as shown in the figure. Identify and record the missing packages to be downloaded as indicated in the "Reference" column. "Scan for HuB missing packages..." Press

The list in the "packages" column shows the missing packages for all var files. In this example, the missing packages are listed only for the target. In this case, just click "Download All" as shown in the figure and download from VamHub to complete the process.

5.Examples of poor management (of people reading this, maybe normal)

From the list in the "Packages" column, download the packages recorded in section 2 individually, as shown in the figure. See also the explanation in the figure. Downloading by "Download All" is not recommended. It may contain unreliable packages and lead to memory wastage. Please download at your own risk.

As you may have guessed, this is a package that cannot be downloaded from VamHub; it is not included in the list examined in section 2 and is not required to see the target. Please address this at your own discretion.

PS:  There are two possible reasons for the error after pressing "Scan HuB Missing Packages".

A. The computer is not connected to the Internet properly.

B. The "Enable Hub" setting in Vam is not checked. Refer to the figure below for how to check.
