Questions for You!

[What's on your table, and what worlds are you playing in?] - Please leave comments below! 😊

Welcome Order of Shieldice! 🛡 Today's post is a little different. I thought I'd show you what gaming books I'm currently reading/using, and ask what games you have all been playing.

Rather than run a poll, I thought this would be a better overall way of making sure I'm targeting the correct type of content so you can all get the most use out of it. Perhaps many of the Order are playing in science fiction worlds, or brutal low fantasy settings, and recent tables have missed the mark. Let me know below! 😃

If you'd be so kind to discuss the following in the comments:

- Any interest in science fiction tools and tables?

- What styles of worlds do you mostly run, play in, or prefer?

- What tabletop games and systems are you most fond of?

- Would you like more system neutral lore and preformed worlds?

- If you are a writer/author, what worlds and genres are your stories set in?

_______

My current favourite 'tabletop-attention-grabbing-books' (as seen in the photo above):

So, ICRPG by Runehammer is the staple at our table, and the printed and bound PDFs have seen better days. I have the Collector's Edition, but fear to use it. Not because I believe it will spawn some Lovecraftian horror if I do so, but because I'm overly precious with nice looking books. 😂 Viking Death Squad is another Runehammer RPG that rocks (literally), and I constantly read through it for inspiration. Nate Treme's Haunted Almanac has to be the greatest book ever for creative blocks when it comes to designing RPG content. Recently I have been mainly solo gaming, so I purchased Rangers of Shadowdeep, and have been enjoying using board-game tokens and pieces instead of miniatures to play it. My miniature collection has unfortunately dwindled due to living in a tiny apartment... goodbye Warhammer 😭 Death in Space is the latest RPG in the arsenal, a wonderful birthday gift! I'm currently reading through it, and the graphic design is to die for. 💀

Thank you for your incredible support! Sound off in the comments! 🎲

Hi BrianV! Thanks for the comment and feedback. ICRPG for the win! Me and my friends are a little obsessed with it 😂 Although we have home brewed it up too, and mainly use D6s (I'm thinking of creating a little system based on how we play in the future). I need to check out Deathbringer! Thanks for the reminder 👠Awesome, Sci-fi tables and tools may very well be on the way then! 😃

Thanks Wes! I appreciate the kind words and encouragement. That's exactly the style we play at our table: Low fantasy progressing slowly into high fantasy! 👠There are some cool Lore projects coming soon, and lots more fantasy world building tools 😊

I use a home brew of ICRPG and Deathbringer by Professor Dungeoncraft. My world starts grim dark low fantasy with bouts of high depends on what the PCs unlock, stubble across or uncover. I could always use Sci Fi tables as well!

- Any interest in science fiction tools and tables? Not really. I am the same others here. I have some games but most of my players prefer fantasy. - What styles of worlds do you mostly run, play in, or prefer? Start low fantasy and progress to high fantasy. I start my games with limited magic but the characters can learn higher magic from finding old spell books. Also magic items are more one off type magic. I will give stronger magic items but my group knows kinda when I hand those out. A big battle or discovery and usually a magic item or 2 will be the reward. - What tabletop games and systems are you most fond of? D&D and OSR - Would you like more system neutral lore and preformed worlds? Yes. Always looking for more for my world. It is a Hexcrawl/Sandbox type world. - If you are a writer/author, what worlds and genres are your stories set in? Not me. Love your stuff. Just keep producing. I can always change whatever to match my world or just use the inspiration to create my own.
