Biography:

Bob grew up in the heartland of the Manitoba Republic, where he worked alongside his family on their farm. From an early age, he learned the value of hard work and self-reliance, qualities that became integral to his character. However, his life took a tragic turn when a massive hurricane destroyed his family’s farm and claimed the lives of his parents and younger brother.

Unable to cope with the weight of his grief, Bob fell into a spiral of heavy drinking, drifting aimlessly through life until he met Jess, a kind and spirited bartender who saw the good in him. Jess helped Bob rediscover his purpose, and together, they rebuilt the family farm from the ground up. During the global agricultural crisis known as the “Harvest Plague,” Bob became an indispensable figure in his community by repairing farming equipment and ensuring food production continued.

Years later, Bob and Jess decided to start a family, but their dreams were shattered when Jess was diagnosed with infertility. With no money for advanced medical treatment, Bob slipped back into depression. It was Jess who found hope in the COLOS colonization program, which promised comprehensive medical care for colonists upon arrival. Reluctantly, Bob agreed to join, spurred on by his love for Jess and a devastating hurricane that destroyed their farm a second time.

Selling everything they owned, the couple boarded COLOS-8 with little more than their determination and Bob’s prized collection of trading cards. Before entering cryogenic sleep, Bob promised Jess he would never touch alcohol again.

Role on COLOS-8:

Bob’s skills as a farmer and mechanic make him a cornerstone of the colonization effort. Once the colony on Octavia-22b is established, he will be responsible for developing sustainable agricultural systems to support the growing population.

Relationship with Oni Lim:

Bob didn’t know Oni Lim before the events aboard COLOS-8. Their first meeting occurred during the unfolding crisis on the ship, where their interactions were brief but significant.
