Hello, friends!
As we bid farewell to the last month of summer, I hope you've had time to relax and recharge. For me, however, there wasn’t much time for a break, so let’s dive right into the progress I made during August.
For those who have already played the 0.2.1 update, you might have noticed that Oni can now store entire zone maps on her C-Scanner, not just notes. To do this, simply download a map from a map station. Once downloaded, you can access your map anywhere by pressing the [M] key. This enhancement makes navigation seamless and ensures you’re always aware of your surroundings, no matter where you are on the ship.

Oni has stats and collects items throughout her journey, so it only made sense to provide a way to track these. Since I went into detail about the Character Menu in a previous post, I won’t dive too deep here—but rest assured, it’s a feature that will be constantly evolving.
Despite facing numerous design and development challenges, I’m excited to introduce implants to the game. After all, it’s a Sci-Fi world—implants are a must! This new gameplay mechanic allows you to customize Oni’s abilities to match your playstyle. Implants offer a variety of effects, from enhancing exploration capabilities to boosting combat skills. Stay tuned for more detailed posts about this feature.
(Note: The implant menu is still a work in progress, and some elements may change in future updates.)
Character Effects
Introducing a new system closely tied to implants: Character Effects. Now, Oni will experience different effects based on her status. For example, deep infection will grant both positive and negative effects, adding depth to gameplay. Additionally, one of fans pointed out that Oni’s running speed was the same whether she was holding a weapon or not, which wasn’t very realistic. Now, Oni’s running speed decreases by 10% when she’s holding a weapon, making gameplay more authentic and strategic.
Interface Animations
Previously, opening the interface menu sometimes caused a disorienting flash, akin to a flashbang grenade exploding on the screen. All old and new interface menus now feature smooth opening and closing animations. Menus accessed through in-game items will have a zoom-in effect, as if they’re being pulled out from the item itself. Other menus opened via keypresses will fade in and out gracefully, enhancing the overall user experience.
Of course, no update would be complete without new 3D models! This month, I successfully created nearly all the models for walls, floors, platforms, doors, and ceilings for the new location. These additions enrich the game’s environment, making exploration more immersive and visually appealing.

As you can see, my primary focus last month was on enhancing the gameplay elements of the game. This approach ensures that future updates won’t require altering save file variables, allowing players to use their save files from older updates seamlessly. I’m committed to maintaining high quality, and while it’s a challenging task, I’m determined to achieve it.
Next month, I plan to dedicate my time to finishing the implant system, refining some cutscenes, and creating new locations. So, expect the next update to bring some new content that will expand your experience in Parasite Inside.
Thank you for your continued support and feedback. Stay tuned for more exciting updates!
Warm regards,
Kodman
