Clarissa's ERT notes #1

Observations by Clarissa Fox - Senior Geneticist on COLOS-8. Member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT).

September 12, 2175 - 17:52 UTC:

Approximately four hours have elapsed since my reawakening.

The automatic revival of the ERT from cryogenic sleep encountered several complications. Out of the 15 ERT members, two did not awaken (one technician and one security officer). An inspection of their capsules revealed power interruptions during the awakening process.

The onboard AI, ASTRA, explained that a meteorite had struck the ship, damaging the compartment with the primary systems, including ASTRA itself. There are disruptions, though the automatic diagnostics did not identify the precise issue.

The ERT team is now regrouping, and we will begin investigating the problem.

September 13, 2175 - 02:15 UTC:

It is evident that ASTRA is experiencing significant malfunctions. It intermittently stops responding to commands and occasionally repeats phrases.

We have determined the cause of death for the two ERT members. The CRYO-S system initiated their wake-up process, but due to power failures, their capsules did not open and the system restarted the process. Consequently, they suffocated.

Technicians are attempting to diagnose ASTRA's lack of response, but have yet to find any leads.

September 15, 2175 - 23:01 UTC:

Reconnaissance of our compartment indicates that numerous doors are unpowered and many devices have burned out. The emergency lighting remains operational, which is a small relief.

The ERT commander is organizing a team to inspect the meteorite-damaged compartment to assess the extent of the damage.

September 16, 2175 - 18:46 UTC:

The reconnaissance team returned without reaching the Power Core. Many doors are either damaged or without power.

Technicians are preparing equipment to force entry into the service compartment. This route has fewer doors and should be easier.

September 20, 2175 - 04:11 UTC:

The team has been gone for several days, indicating that they are making progress.

ASTRA occasionally responds to commands. It reported its decision to delay the crew awakening process. Due to detected damage in the CRYO-S system, ASTRA chose to minimize health risks by not waking the crew without medical personnel. This was a prudent decision, as Amelia could have met the same fate as the two ERT members… I hope she is safe.

September 29, 2175 - 22:09 UTC:

ASTRA has informed us that the ERT members have nearly reached the Power Core compartment housing the main systems. According to the plan, they must repair the internal hull damage to enable the repair of the primary equipment.

October 1, 2175 - 10:42 UTC:

The team has returned to rest and devise a plan for repairing the hull breach and sealing the rupture.

I have documented all the information we have uncovered about the CRYO-S capsule malfunction and attempted to send it to Astro-Lab, but the message failed to transmit. We are without communication; what other challenges lie ahead?

October 3, 2175 - 07:43 UTC:

The team of technicians has commenced the hull repair. They estimate this will take several weeks. ASTRA has started to exhibit hallucinations, making incoherent statements and confusing dates. Occasionally, it "believes" we are just departing from Earth. This behavior is more unsettling than the hull breach.

October 20, 2175 - 14:58 UTC:

ASTRA has not responded to commands for several days. Marty, Anna, and I are feeling increasingly uneasy about this. Marty claims to hear voices in the ship's hum. Hearing such things from a scientist is disconcerting.

October 28, 2175 - 06:37 UTC:

Unexpectedly, ASTRA reported that the technicians successfully sealed all compartment breaches. This improvement has evidently benefited ASTRA; it has stopped hallucinating and consistently responds to commands.

November 2, 2175 - 10:39 UTC:

The technicians have returned and reported extensive damage to ASTRA and other systems. They are formulating a plan to extract the meteorite, repairing CRYO-System and the power core to restore stable power to the ship.

November 9, 2175 - 10:02 UTC:

With ASTRA’s assistance, we have a clear understanding of our tasks. However, I would feel much more secure if Oni was with us.

Tomorrow, the entire ERT team will proceed to the Power Core block to extract this meteorite.

So hyped my brain is gonna meltdown from the hype-heat!

I didn't expect so much time is already gone on the ship, when Oni awakes. Still, a good teaser for what is about to come :)
