Added 2021-08-17 21:03:10 +0000 UTCHey Bootcampers! ⚔️
This week we're filming Patreon Class 5.2 - Painting Heads where we will be going in-depth on Ross' key portrait painting techniques. The topic of learning how to paint and render the human head in color is extremely dense and usually is covered throughout many semesters in art college.
In this 2-3 hour lesson, we want to really focus on what YOU want to learn regarding Ross' portrait painting process. Of the options below, which is most important to you and we'll try to cover the highest-scoring topics!

2021-11-08 20:07:58 +0000 UTCHiii, one amazing mod, can you check dm?
2021-11-06 14:58:20 +0000 UTCperspective in relation to head angle is one of the things I'm trying to learn but have a hard time learning. cries* especially dramatic light is involved.
2021-08-27 01:29:26 +0000 UTCI would love to see it all
2021-08-25 23:59:09 +0000 UTCI agree, I struggle with that sometimes
2021-08-24 19:37:56 +0000 UTCAll. Haha!
2021-08-24 15:35:27 +0000 UTCI would like to learn how to learn how to portray facial features in a way that's recognizable, but also not over-rendered; color selection and blending in particular.
2021-08-22 21:17:55 +0000 UTCwell, basically I want to learn how to paint portraits as seen in the reference image, that kind of rendering.
2021-08-21 01:23:26 +0000 UTCHonestly I'd like to see it all. Hard to pick just one.
2021-08-20 13:52:26 +0000 UTCOhhh I want Ross to PLEASE MAKE THIS TUTORIAL AS REALISTIC AS THE FACE PORTRAIT that he has here above this survey 😅🙏🙏🙏. He can even use this face painting above , I wouldn’t mind at all. I love everything about it . The skin , hair etc 👌❤️❤️ Gorgeous . So yeah , I wanna see how he paints a head portrait in the same realistic style as this example he posted above the survey . Brush strokes , brushes used, layer modes , techniques , picking colors for this realism etc 👌👌🙏🙏🙏 would be AMAZING .

2021-08-19 15:41:20 +0000 UTCAbout the tool bars and layer bar that are too small please make them bigger ti see everything Ross clicks 🙏🙏🙏

2021-08-19 15:36:50 +0000 UTCSame!! Techniques for realism in the face . Like the head painting example Ross posted above this survey .

2021-08-19 15:36:28 +0000 UTCI want to learn how to correctly apply brush strokes if it makes sense. I use Procreate and Apple Pencil. How can we translate real brush stroke to digital. When I render skin it always looks too blur.
2021-08-19 13:52:06 +0000 UTCFace proportions and rendering would be great to improve on

2021-08-19 06:20:48 +0000 UTCDef skin tones and rendering!

2021-08-19 02:29:44 +0000 UTChow to paint perfect hair?

2021-08-18 23:59:54 +0000 UTCThere's a great course that dives in the planes of the head by Marco Bucci on Skillshare.
2021-08-18 13:23:10 +0000 UTCI want to learn how to shade properly the face, how to put shadow and light
inFable
2021-08-18 11:15:55 +0000 UTCI would like to know how to draw the mouth and nose, I always find it diffcult
2021-08-18 03:46:00 +0000 UTCskin tones and rendering with a stylization twist maybe?
2021-08-18 02:16:57 +0000 UTCDifferent lighting scenarios I think is what I struggle
2021-08-18 01:52:57 +0000 UTCI want to learn all the options, but rendering skin would be very helpful. I struggle to paint skin without going overboard with the airbrush. I would love to learn how to paint skin in a way that is a good mix of painterly and smooth. Also, how do you paint noses! That is the part of the face I struggle with the most.
2021-08-18 01:48:40 +0000 UTCTotally read this as “hands” and not “heads”, and I was very excited and confused lol
May
2021-08-18 01:45:35 +0000 UTCI also want to learn the basic planes of the head and its differences between male and female structure
2021-08-18 01:12:03 +0000 UTCReally would like more perspective stuff on the face. Different angles and proportions are my vote :3

2021-08-18 00:27:36 +0000 UTCI like all the options! but mainly the one about drawing the face from different angles as I find it the most difficult. Also I would say something about different head types would be nice, to avoid drawing the same character over and over you know lol
2021-08-18 00:26:33 +0000 UTCLooking forward to 5.2.
2021-08-18 00:20:27 +0000 UTCAside from the great ideas already listed so far! I would LOVE an in depth study on color theory for the face when it comes to painting several different skin types! It would also be so fun for you to help us get out of our heads (no pun intended) by encouraging us to draw outside of our comfort zones when it comes to drawing different types of facial features! I always worry that I am drawing the same face for all of my characters. So when I try to draw a different looking character, it is a bit of a struggle. I really think it has something to do with what I think looks attractive. I want to embrace everything and no longer let my subconscious human/primal-like desires of what I think is attractive to hold me back!! Lol!!
2021-08-17 22:01:02 +0000 UTCEyes, nose, mouth, and ears. I especially have problem with mouth.

2021-08-17 21:53:44 +0000 UTCHair and face!! Please 🥳
2021-08-17 21:51:52 +0000 UTCGreat suggestion! Thanks! -Stella
2021-08-17 21:38:58 +0000 UTCI read Ross your comment and he said you're his new best friend. XD -Stella
2021-08-17 21:34:58 +0000 UTCRendering hair and face please 🥺
2021-08-17 21:31:44 +0000 UTCMy biggest problem with rendering is the technical uses of the tools. I have an understanding of how shading works but how to achieve it with brushes/tools/layers is a different story.
