✨ Bootcamp CHECK IN! ✨

Comments

I finally started today the first lesson in the bootcamp. :-( Is it too late to post the assignments to the discord community? I really want to catch up by September classes.

No worries! Life is crazy, but the Bootcamp lessons aren't going anywhere and will be here when you're ready! :) -Stella

Am behind.am very very behind

On the main RossDraws Patreon page, you can click "My Membership" and access the Free Complementary Tutorial to get a taste of how the Bootcamp lessons work. :) -Stella

Hey YinPay! You can send us a DM and I can see if I can help! :) -Stella

This means so much to Ross and me! Thanks so much for sharing! We're so glad the classes are helping you out on your journey! -Stella

I haven't been paying attention to the boot camp to be honest. I'm trying to keep going with this, but I'm getting swamped with work

Ray

Omg I just joined and I have no idea what is going on. Will wait for my first of month I guess to see what is it all about and what am I supposed to do 🤷‍♀️😅

I'm struggling and don't know how to contact anyone

So this week actually marked one year since I tried self study to improve, and I've learned some things. But since starting this bootcamp I've grown so much - not just skill wise but also confidence. I was actually starting to fear drawing but you've made this class so welcoming and light, it inspires me to at least try. And after this past assignment, I legitimately can't express how stunned I was at progress, Yes classes have been getting more difficult, but it makes it feel so much more worth it when we complete them. Can't wait to keep going and learning with everyone!

I've been doing homework in time, so that's great! I was hoping I could do the assignment multiple times before submission but lately I just do one. I need to practice more! But I've been improving so much. Coming from the traditional background, I think I have the fundamentals to pick up digital quite easily, but just never had enough drive to focus on it. Since signing up on the bootcamp, I've been drawing digitally almost exclusively. So even though I'm not doing homework with as many repetitions as I'd like, I still improved a lot!

I definitely feel like I have improved, especially with identifying shapes (in both the image and in shading), having a better understanding of how lights and shadows work, and drawing poses. Some things I feel like I still need to improve on are my coloring (my artwork tends to upload with darker colors than I initially intend to and I think it's because of either my coloring process, how I save my images, or even both), how I layer my artwork (it definitely has gotten better, but I know it's something I can work on), and understanding landscapes and perspectives better (definitely my weakest points when it comes to art). The classes I am looking forward to are the illustration ones because I wanted to take an illustration class while in school, but because of other required classes I needed at the time I couldn't take it due to overlap in my schedule. But the bootcamp so far has been both fun and challenging and have had just an absolute blast with it!

I'm definitely improving. It's kinda slow, but sure.

Woo! Can't wait to see your work! - Maiv

No worries! There are no deadlines and you can learn the course at your own pace! :) - Maiv

Catching up :D Had some finals to handle, but all good now! I am a free elf

im a bit late in the bootcamp :(

I am also in the military 😝

keep going at your own pace

I'm doing pretty alright, I just started a few weeks ago though. The free tutorial was amazing, I didn't expect myself to improve much but here I am proven wrong! I can't wait for the next lesson!(❁´◡`❁)

I have an art burnout (not because of the Bootcamp) and feel like I'm not making any progress in terms of improving. I lost motivation to draw and haven't even checked out the new classes yet. I still want to pursue the art path and will try to apply what ross has taught me to my art. Sorry for being so pessimistic. Hopefully after a short break I will be back and ready to learn more. :D

i am really having fun in the bootcamp😃 and till now i understand everything and i know how to do it , but somtimes i feel Lost that my skills dosn't really shown i Think because i don't know how to Express my feelings in art. i Think i need time bit if thereis a way to figure mysilf in art i'll be gratful. + i hope u can add some challenges like try to use onlly texture in painting(to Study texturing) try with one Lines (to undrestand Simplicity more)...etc.

did you check your direct message?

Hi! I’m sorry to bother you but I joined the Patreon because I wanted to do the boot camp, but I never received access to any of the videos. Do I need to go somewhere to access them? And can I still access the videos from the past months that I missed? :(

I’m really enjoying the boot camp. It’s really helping me improve my art. Thank you 😊

Yay! I know the feeling of being stuck on an assignment but I'm glad you were able to push through! Looking forward to the rest of your assignments! - Maiv

Woo! That's great to hear! - Maiv

Wow! That's understandable! Taking multiple classes can be a struggle, but the bootcamp will always be there when you have the time to work through it. Good luck! - Maiv

That's great to hear! It's important to see your improvement and finding new processes on how to reach the end result. Can't wait to see the mileage at the end of Bootcamp! :) - Maiv

The lessons have been fantastic! I think I've been growing as an artist and that's super exciting! Everything has been fun, clear, concise. I love how positive and excited you guys are throughout the videos. AND Stella asking questions throughout (verification) has been really helpful. Sometimes I'll be thinking "why does he do x,y,z?" then Stella chips in. It is so, so helpful. Ya'll have great flow! I use procreate but feel like I should transition to photoshop? I still struggle with choosing brushes (esp. lesson 4.4) I feel like I use the blend tool more than I should...

I haven’t been able to catch up, but trying my best! Everyone amazes me with their work and makes me want to do better & not give up. I’m currently doing 2.1 and close finishing it!

all the lessons so far has helped me tremendously in drawing! :) but i do wish i could learn more about rendering, because i still seem to be having difficulties with it

I’ve been learning a lot, still not at the place i want to be but i do feel changes, skin rendering still a place I’m trying to improve in but feel I’ve been spending a lot of time around testing to see what works. I’ve been able to draw poses free handed better from assignments and some persona practice. i know I’m behind of assignments from procrastination in past but I’ve been pushing myself more to learn i and out of bootcamp, i do want to keep improving and be at a stage where i can really be happy to show off my creations more and i know bootcamp was the right step, so many future assignments I’m looking forward to trying out and improve in. my goal is to have my imagination just flow to the tablet and create work to be proud of by end of bootcamp but still keep improving. seeing all fellow artist work is inspiring, i did feel down not having the speed of some in past or the beauty of others but with little art group i study with I’ve got that push to keep going

Proffessor E

Beeen so swamped with work within art I haven’t been able to post for the boot camp since the first lesson 3: But they’re so good and I learned a lot from the one I did so far! Hoping to have more time for doing these as they really help level up my art. Thanks for hosting this bootcamp Ross!

It's interesting how I learned a lot also about myself during this Bootcamp! Up to now I'm really glad I could keep up with all assignments and didn't leave anything behind, even if i's been a harsh time for me! I found out that I actually can use a reference to draw, I had never done that before and I even thought as an ignorant that it'd be bad! But I found out I really like it and I could learn so much from doing so! I still like drawing from imagination most, and I'd really like to learn how to make impressive lighting on these kind of drawings. Also landscape! I completely lack perspective and landscape so can't wait we'll dig into that! Anyways I was scared it was going to be really accademic and hard, but I really love this "just do it" approach, I think it's what works best with me! Thanks Ross and Stella for keeping the classes funny and interesting! Can't wait for more, can't wait to keep improving fast! And I'm so inspired by all the amazing homeworks from other artists, it's so wonderful!

Have missed the last r assignments, first because of university, now because I am on holiday, however I want to rejoin and redo the last assignments as soon as I can, in order to study more. I did not stop drawing tho! I just did not have time to study the assignments ✌🏻

- (I accidentally hit enter before finishing) As an intermediate artist, I really appreciate the gradual increase in the difficulty of the classes. It's challenged me to grow in a nice structured way, which has helped me to see steady improvement. I can't wait to see more of how Ross paints his vibrant scenes as we get into the next classes.

I've really enjoyed the bootcamp so far. :) I've learned a lot about drawing anatomy and capturing flow through the assignments, and have especially enjoyed working on this most recent class 4.1.

It’s hard but I try…and since I’m renovating my room I do not have time to draw, but when it’s finished I got a perfect working place. And I think I need a lot of help with everything but right now I can’t overcome color. I tried to color a personal project ( Sketch worked quite good) but just didn’t know how to move on.

I'm still at assignment 2.2 hellpT.T. I'm trying to keep up after my work

I feel that I’m doing well! In the earlier classes, I didn’t really feel as confident in my artworks but lately I have been seeing improvement, and also a stronger desire to draw more often! I think that I will see more positive art related changes as the Bootcamp progresses ❤️🪐

Hey everybody!! :) I'm feeling alright, I really wish I coud have more time to practice and make my homework, but regarding the bootcamp it's been a beautiful journey :) Maybe a bit overwhelmed at first, but I feel like I'm in school again... (with thousands of classmates... XD). I really hope whoever is taking this bootcamp is enjoying it. :) And maybe it's because of the number of students, but I wish I could interact with you guys without fading in the background. I mean, I don't think we could spare much time like when we were at school, but it would be nice. :) Not complaining or anything, just thinking out loud. Happy drawings and best wishes to everybody who reads this. :D #NimaForeva

I started late so I’ve been giving myself deadlines to finish the assignments to catch up. I’m finally almost there about to start 4.1. Some have definitely been harder than others, but it’s been great in showing me what my weaknesses are. It’s also hard to juggle with full time shift work and a toddler!

I'm doing good, just trying to juggle the bootcamp and college, thankfully next week I have vacation, so I'll have more time to dedicate to the bootcamp! Also, super excited for the next classes

I'm very behind. I have many other things to do as other bootcampers mentioned. And I work very slowly and get very impatient on my progress. But trying to teach myself to be patient and keep going and not giving up, no matter how behind I am!

Xavi

Just posted 3.1 and finished the video for 3.2 - and I want to be caught up by the end of the month!! I’m so so so excited to for the 4.1 + 4.2 classes!!

I'm feeling alright! I'm a bit upset with myself that I'm so behind in my assignments cuz work just takes up alot of my energy but, i really want to catch up since I learn something new with every assignment. I absolutely will catch up tho!😄

Kaylein Ontashia

Honestly it’s been difficult to keep up.

I think I'm progressing slowly but surely. I can only practice on the weekends sadly.. because I'm in the military.. So my weekdays are gone. But still it's a good motivating factor that helps me look forward to the weekends 😂😊 haha But I want to improve on drawing hands and feet and faces in perspective

I'm enjoying the bootcamp so far! It's been really fun and helpful to have some structure for my practice, and I think the assignments have pushed me to try new things and learn more deeply (especially this last master study assignment!)

Jared Schmitz

So far, so good. Love having the chance to study together with so many talented people, learning a lot from just looking at all the artwork. And it's been great to get a chance to look at an Art School structure. I'm liking the pace.

Alaisy

I'm feeling pretty great! I'm a little behind because I can't draw during the day (I have a 2 year old), but I'm excited to keep improving. I've already improved a lot! 😁

Hello! It's sad to say that I'm really behind on the assignments considering I've joined early. It clashes a little with my IB DP school right now, but I am super excited to catch up and learn a lot from the Bootcamp! Hopefully join the competition as well by the start of next year :D

I'm super behind on assignments, but only because I've had SO much other work to do! Proud of myself for keeping busy, and proud for squeezing in the assignments I can while still getting my work done Best of luck, fellow campers!

I LOVE THE BOOTCAMP. I am seriously considering going to a concept art school/take other lessons after this. I am incredibly behind schedule, but I already learned a lot :) Currently working on 3.1!

I really enjoy the Bootcamp, learning a lot. But I am way behind, my new job is draining all of the little energy I have and that annoys me xD

I'm behind on assignments but I really wanna catch up! I really want to get into this and participate with my best im not letting myself drag around its been awhile since I was so badly determined to do something

I’m really enjoying the Bootcamp! I like the fact that instead of staring at an empty canvas, I’m actually creating something during the assignments. It can be a bit difficult to catch up sometimes, but I’m taking my time and enjoying the process. Right now I’m working on 4.1, this one is hard but so much fun!

I’m a little behind on the assignments but I’m slowly getting back to it and enjoying it 🥰💖

Devotionart

Improved a lot in my painting and shading skills. Actually stuck with 3.2 but Stella was nice enough to answer my question and now I think I'm ready to get this assignment done !

i'm up to date somehow, im also doing my 2nd year of game design at uni so the work load is crazy for me

Noah Rapetti

it's all good

Ty Haven

take your time, I confronted them with the same situation, and they wanted me to take my time, so your good and keep at it, I'm still at 1.1 because I'm learning 3D Animation

Ty Haven

I just finished 4.1 this morning! This was the month was most excited for because I really want to improve my composition for pieces. Especially since I don't only draw characters so this month is really gonna help. I have also just improved greatly overall <3

I am still in 2.2: / but I think that if I have learned some things, the problem is that I have other things to do and it is a bit difficult for me to find time to work on this but I will try to get on track

Come on guys! We can do this! Those of us who work at some other things... Take a deep breath and relax... Take your time and motivation will come. We can join at the end of this wonderful road! Thanks Ross and your team for this amazing year of pure art✨

Shino ✨栄光✨

Learning so much so excited to see much my art improve after 10 months. ✨✨✨ But I wonder why some time Ross like hide the tools bar cause I really like to see how he maneuvered and settings lol 😂

I had a lot of work this past 2 months and haven't being able to do the assignments but next week I'll continue 🤞This bootcamp has helped me experiment out of my comfort zone in so many ways. ❤ It'll be challenging but worth it!

I got stuck on 2.2 but since then I managed to push through and I'm working now on 3.1. I'm learning a lot so I'm grateful for the opportunity to challenge myself!

It’s not too late you can actually join in at any time

Austin David

I have a suggestion for the assignments: make an achievement system for the amount of work the student wants to put in, so for the figure drawings from reference you could do: Apprentice: 5 figures Mage: 10 figures Wizard: 15 figures Archmage: 20 figures And then for the master studies you could have 1 study for Apprentice, and 4 studies to “unlock” an Archmage achievement

Austin David

I fell behind because my job sucks out all my motivation. But I just finished the male figure for 2.2 and I'm feeling good about it. Dunno if I'll be able to catch up to others but I'll do my best!!!

Katsudon

Honestly stuck since 2.1

suit0pi

im hanging behind due to personal issues but ill catch up soon :) its still so much fun :3

A new patron here and I’m still stuck on part 1 of 1.1🥲

yopolis

Amazing but I wanna join the boot camp but it’s too late

I feel like I’m doing amazing!! I’m so proud of myself! I’ve found not only my art style but I’ve managed to find myself in my art! I’m finally able to express who I am through my art, something that is hard for my otherwise! I can’t wait for the rest of boot camp!!💞💞💞

Taking a 7 week workshop w Marek Madej (concept artist from Cyberpunk 2077) so I’m not keeping up at all at the moment 😭💀💀 trying to find a way to fit the boot camp work into my schedule

Yukim Nomoto

Been doing better lately! Im behind on some assignments but not many gladly, and I’m finishing one so soon I’ll be caught up, artblock really sucks😓, but healthy breaks work!

haven’t been able to finish 2.1

I’m a little bit behind but finished the 4.1 class today and did an assignment, I still need to do one of the ones from last month though.

I'm doing fine! I'm sadly new at the bootcamp and hope to stay and learn alot from you Ross! Watched one of your classes and thought it was amazing. Hope all are doing well, stay safe and wear a mask❤

I wish I had more time to do the assignments! But I’m enjoying them 😃

I'm definitely struggling to catch up but I'm moving through the assignments father than I thought and I definitely see improvement in not only my work but the process of making it.

ATLAS

I still have yet to finish watching one of the videos

I need more discipline cuz these master studies are hard lmaooooooo I keep putting it aside

Marc Cabrera

I haven’t even been able to finish 1.2 😭
