Ludwig says that everything will be alright, but Slime says that we’re all fucked. I think it takes a lot more digging and legwork to have a take somewhere in the middle of those two. I think that acknowledging that there is a problem with patriarchy (among other things) can co-exist with a certain kind of optimism and call to action.

If being openly trans on the internet has taught me anything its to pick your battles. The best way to change someone's opinions isn't to argue with them, its to change their biases by being a cool/kind person that exists in their lives and challenging their views gently overtime, thats not really something you can do with strangers over the internet. By all means turn it into a public spectacle and embarrass them the way Smile and Aiden do if it entertains you to do so. Even use them as training ground to cut your teeth to make sure you're ready to justify yourself to people who are important to you but these losers on the internet aren't worth the time of day if it actually stresses you out. Save your emotional energy. Side note: Public figures with a significant audience have more of an obligation to defend their actions and opinions because they influence people, that doesn't give you the right to harass them especially over cookies, or over their opinion of peoples opinions on cookies. It's all fucking cringe. Your opinion online will never matter as much as the time it takes for you to post it (I'm wasting my time right now but at least I do this rarely). Money talks, speak with what you purchase and spend your time on. Idk.

Also one more thing - to me the accountability in this situation is so direct, it's just reflected through the sales of the cookies. If her fans/audience are upset with her, they won't buy the product and it won't succeed, and that's like the "punishment" or "accountability" for the action. It feels like a very simple issue but people outside of her fanbase seem very invested in shitting on her, which to me... I can't imagine spending a single moment getting upset about something so low stakes, given I'm not a fan supporting her. If I was a fan I think I would feel more hurt (but that doesn't seem to be the majority of people who are upset)

i think maybe im not getting my point across well - the point isnt that its chill to call your audience broke, but is clear to me from the scale of the blowback and the portion of the internet that gets the most mad at her for stuff that she is under a different, disproportionate lens. her missteps are so relatively small compared to other large creators but she creates some of the largest news stories and receives some of the most hate online, and that is what is bizarre to me.
