As an Ohio native, it's actually a requirement to have that stick on you when in Columbus. They won't let you in. So I'm confused on how the asker even got INTO Columbus.

2024-01-09 11:19:28 +0000 UTCim a very anxious american and I really get where youre coming from, I am a statistics guy and I think in researching it ive lost some of the fear of it. around 40 thousand people die from guns every year here, 30 thousand or so are suicides, the remaining 10 are from violent homicide. in 2022 there were around 16 thousand homicides total, 7500 of those homicides were at someone's residence, 4500 were people just walking down the street, both of those are pretty targeted killings usually related to either domestic violence, home invasion, or gang related grudges. basically don't live in an area where people have been intentionally abandoned by the government and trapped in a life of crime so they are forced to kill each other so they can afford not to actually starve to death. welcome to the states! you can find the full statistics here: https://cde.ucr.cjis.gov/LATEST/webapp/#/pages/explorer/crime/crime-trend

Honestly, the statistics are probably where I'll find the most comfort. I think you guys are ultimately right where I'm suppressing the overall anxiety about the move but spending more time worrying about the problems instead of celebrating the life I get to spend with my partner. It's kind of hilarious this episode dropped today because we actually got our k1 visa approved this morning! Really glad I submitted the question, felt nice to laugh along with you guys about something I've been bottling up for a bit and sincerely provided some needed relief.
