Comments
Also I was able to overcome it because I read this book called School of Fear as a kid and so I went from not being able to verbalize or even understand what a phobia was and the fact that I had one and wasn’t just a weird special person to learning that they exist and these fictional kids went to a crazy fictional school surrounded by awesome scary shit everywhere (including vats of vomit) to overcome them . So this exposure to the topic helped me process and basically do self CBT still as a kid without needing therapy

2025-01-22 06:18:22 +0000 UTCAs someone who had a similarly debilitating emetophobia growing up (anxiety, missed school, etc), the solution will not really lie in believing you won’t throw up in random scenarios -which is usually true so it’s definitely helpful (depending on the nuances and source of your fear). For me I have food allergies which were kind of unknown as a kid so foods were associated with that fear and throwing up was not just scary for what it was- it was physically painful and sometimes unexpected. I can say I don’t have a phobia anymore and it’s because I had to reassure myself over the span of honestly years that throwing up is ok and yes it can happen and it will be ok if it does. Phobias are interesting because they are irrational which means it’s totally possible to overcome them with a good mindset and effort. The first step is knowing that throwing up is not the problem, it’s the way you think about it. And (very very rarely) there r some cases where throwing up could potentially save your life so it’s worthwhile to try and overcome that fear <3 it’s yucky but it will be ok . I’m still really uncomfortable with it and very rarely throw up except recently I ate an allergen unknowingly but it doesn’t affect my daily life so please know how possible it is to be happier and have potential for change within yourself

2025-01-22 06:13:54 +0000 UTCI mean no ill will to anyone but if you work in a place where you get cut and someone tells you they have HIV, it is either their or your obligation to alert a higher up, this could be a SERIOUS health hazard. I work in a kitchen and higher-ups need to know about stuff like this (though of course I’ve not had anything of that nature come up). It is your responsibility to make sure your co-workers are safe. Even if the chances are extremely slim your boss needs to know to take precautions. They also legally cannot punish you or discriminate against you for it

2024-12-11 09:17:45 +0000 UTCI worked in HVAC for a second and I for sure got cut at least 3 day each week. Not a dangerous job we just do a lot of repetitive sheet metal work and you just do it in a kind of brainless way so when you handle stuff so frequently with that little focus it just happens.

2024-12-10 13:50:30 +0000 UTCWell Selena did come back for the show, theres a new one called Wizards Beyond Waverly Place. I don't think Dan Benson is on it but a significant portion of the cast is on it along with new mains

2024-12-10 06:00:39 +0000 UTCYeah I can’t help but feel they are doing nothing but exacerbating something has a horrific stigma rather than considering anybodies “safety”. That person has every right to keep it to themselves unless it’s necessary to do so.

2024-12-09 12:40:52 +0000 UTCHIV question is ridiculous, your coworker is ALREADY taking precautions by taking medication that makes their HIV non-transmissable. idk do a little more research, be a little more empathetic

2024-12-08 20:43:10 +0000 UTCI recently rewatched the dark knight as well - slime is 100% right it’s hardly a good movie

2024-12-08 20:24:45 +0000 UTCI don't think there's a job where people should be bleeding regularly... Assuming you live in the U.S. or a country with work protections. If you're at a workplace where that happens a lot my guess is there is some precaution (protective clothing, risk adverse method of doing something) that is being neglected and that either you could encourage the use of yourself, or could bring up to management.

2024-12-08 18:51:51 +0000 UTCI'm single but that tip on home equity at the end had me taking notes- such a nice option to share equity later on, and something i would have had no clue about otherwise.
Ignacio Torres
2024-12-08 14:33:17 +0000 UTCWait that's the perfect TV show solution to the first question: OP has to PRETEND to have non-transmissible HIV and then talk about it with everyone at work to try and get everyone to be more careful WITHOUT risking putting their coworker through stigmatization or worse.

2024-12-08 04:26:08 +0000 UTCi could be COMPLETELY wrong because obv i don’t have the question in front of me but it sounds like the last question was saying “me and my partner have been together for 6.5 months, but we’ve known each other for 9 (months)” ☝️🤓

2024-12-08 03:48:57 +0000 UTCI do believe slime is right about the fact that transformers 1 is a better technical film than dark knight, dark knights like a half a hour to a hour too long.
