Now your best drive being just running through people because you can't handle the ball is cringe too, but charges are lame and can easily hurt someone. I played basketball through varsity as a kid and still play pick up 2-3 times a week. Don't think I've seen a charge called in a pick up game more than once or twice in my life and they were absolutely met with groans.
