2023-09-17 17:28:29 +0000 UTChella late but “jiofen” (pronounced jo-fun) was rumored to be the inspiration for spirited away but Miyazaki denied it. it does have a lot of Japanese influence in the architecture and buildings since Taiwan and Jiufen retained a lot of features from japanese colonization. it’s a mountainous area with a shrine, a beautiful night view and traditional architecture. really cool place, it does feel very similar to spirited away and has a very ethereal and otherworldly feeling, definitely recommend a visit
