Hello Slippers!
This is the first of many development updates - a periodic post that will let you know how, what, and when.
Our main goal for the nearest future is to make the basic battle system feel nice, clean and exciting. Responsiveness, precision, and general power fantasy is our main goal. So what are the devs working on gameplay-wise:
improving responsiveness by tweaking move cancels and combo flow
improving hit reactions
tweaking enemy AI behaviour so it feels natural and believable, while being dumb enough to keep the battle flow going
Writing is focused mostly on lore and character bios. We need to establish proper connections between original fairy tales (those dark and gruesome early versions, not the kiddie stuff) and events in our fairy tale world. What are we actually doing:
establishing chronology of pre-game events like: The Grand Coup, First Rebellion, Witch Purge, Fairy Hunts, Battle of the Mountains
creating โtrue storiesโ of in-game characters
establishing archetypes for the main cast - their character, the language they use, what they like, secondary occupations and kinks ๐
Art team is focusing on a few things. Characters team is finishing up technical stuff concerning character shading style while also concepting NPCs for the main hub. Environment team is creating that main hub where the player will engage with characters and manage them. FX and SFX team is focused on establishing the best workflow - testing external tools and developing them. Animators do what animators do - bringing life to our characters. Here is the list:
finalizing face normals for character models to improve face shading ๐งโ๐จ

concepting NPCs - Sister Grimm (quest giver), Fortune Teller (cards handler) ๐

creating Maidens Ward castle fortress - the base of operations for The Rebellion ๐ฐ

animating Huntsman (boss) and Hulk Knight (basic heavy enemy type) ๐ข


developing FX and SFX pipeline using internal and external tech ๐งโ๏ธ
Mostly battle refinements - both in gameplay and visuals. Some sound effects should also be implemented. We await your feedback on our [Discord] channel. ๐
