Script Draft - Tales from the Mysmor Islands

(The following is a draft for the opening scene of our upcoming project, which we're dubbing "Chapter 2.5" of Arceus's Wish. It will be the first in a series of side-stories that we will use to fill in the gaps of time in-between the main episodes when possible, so you guys don't go without content for so long!
These stories will explore events happening before and during the latest chapters of the show, with new characters and different angles to existing locations. We hope you'll enjoy the sneak peek we've prepared for you, in the form of this script draft! Note that dialogue is subject to editing, but this will help you get a feel for the new characters introduced as well as the vibe this in-between chapter will aim for.)

Arceus’s Wish: Tales from the Mysmor Islands

Chapter One: The Phantom Fumble

(Market sounds, citizens walking about. Qowjdkd is having a conversation with someone. At some point, he is interrupted by something behind him.)

QOWJDKD
Wh… h-hey! Who are you? Let go of me!

(QOWJDKD’s scream plays, he is killed. The citizens stop talking and silence holds for a moment after.)

GENGAR
… Hi.

TITLE CARD

Scene 1

Pleada Rescue Team headquarters, sounds of paper and writing as Oliver does his daily reports.

DIPPER (mid-story)
… and then, I picked up two bellsprout and asked for their help, I said “lasso that criminal!”

So they did, and I yanked the vines until the outlaw toppled over, and then the chase came to a close. It was quite easy for me, seeing as I am an impidimp of many talents! I got off of Parker’s back and bowed at all the citizens who applauded my great display of heroism… and that’s how she decided I should join the Rescue Team!

PARKER (grumbling)
… that’s not exactly how it happened…

LILY
It’s alright, Parker, let Dipper have his moment.

CHANEL (amused)
Ch-yeah, I’m sure you did a great job as his ride herdier.

PARKER
Thanks…?

OLIVER
That’s a… wonderful story, Dipper, but I’m trying to finish up some reports here.

SETH
What are you even reporting on? Nothing’s happening right now.

CHANEL
Nothing ever happens on this freaking island, I wish someone would die or whatever so we’d have something interesting to do for once.

ALITA
Chanel! Be careful saying things like that.

CHANEL
Uhhh, what? I was just kidding.

(To self) Can't a nickit make jokes anymore? Yeesh.

TORKE
I don’t know what you guys are talkin’ about, lotsa crime happens in Pleada Town.

SETH
It doesn’t count if you’re making it happen.

ALITA (sighing)
Seth…

(Panicked crowd sounds from outside.)

PARKER
Whoa! What’s going on?

OLIVER
Well that’s not normal. Alright, team, I guess this is our cue. Come on, Torke!

TORKE
No need to tell me twice!

DIPPER
Taaaan tararaaaan! Time to stride into action!

(Sounds of effort as he hops on Parker’s back)

Let’s ride, Parker! Giddyup!

PARKER (effort as he lands on her back, grumbling)
Mhh… yeah, let’s go. Come on!

CHANEL
Gotcha. Lily, come quick!

LILY
O-on the way!

NARRATOR
Pleada Town’s rescue team officers filed out of their headquarters and began dodging people in the fleeing crowd, running against them toward whatever trouble they may be escaping from. Only Seth, Alita and Lily staggered behind, and the little sentret tried to stop to question one of the citizens.

LILY
Uuh! Excuse me, sir! What’s happening?

CITIZEN
THEY’RE COMING! RUN! AAAAAAHHHH!!

ALITA
What?! Who’s coming– Seth, wait!

SETH
Come on, Alita, catch up! The others are already at the market!

LILY
Gyaaah! I can’t cut through the crowd!

ALITA
Lily! Hold onto my leaf, I’ll pull you up!

(Effort sounds from both Lily and Alita)

LILY
Thanks, Alita. This is a lot of frightened people…

SETH
Yeah… did anyone else know this many people even lived in Pleada Town?

LILY
I can see the market, we’re almost there!

NARRATOR
Lily, Seth and Alita arrived at the now empty marketplace, dust still hanging in the air and down the multiple routes the citizens had taken to escape. Dipper, Parker, Chanel, Torke and chief Oliver were crowding around something near the center of the place.

SETH
So what’s going on? What are we looking at?

PARKER
Well… see for yourself.

ALITA
Is that blood…? (gasp)

He’s dead!

OLIVER
It looks like this poor pigeot’s been murdered.

DIPPER (disappointed)
Are you happy now, Chanel?

CHANEL
Oh. My god. I literally said I was kidding!

ALITA
But who would do something like this in plain view of everyone in the market?!

TORKE
Definitely a fearless criminal…

OLIVER
Yes, and by the marks on the victim’s neck, it’s been broken.

CHANEL (bored)
Wow, how could you tell. I mean, it’s not like his head’s turned in the wrong direction.

OLIVER
I have always prided myself in my detective skills… and now, it’s time to look for who did it.

SETH
I’m gonna get ‘em! Let me go at whoever did it! I’m ready!

PARKER
How are we gonna figure out where they are? Lily, is anyone still in the area?

LILY
I’ll check…

NARRATOR
The little sentret closed her eyes, casting her awareness to her surroundings like a net and feeling the world around her: behind bushes, trees, and walls. Lily’s perception was heightened through a unique ability she possessed - a technique she and the others in the team had dubbed “Foresight.”

LILY
I can feel… I can… (gasp) I feel something! Two pokemon, running toward the center of town. There’s a really scary aura around them, and I don’t know why… but I can sense that the victim has similar energy around him too, so they must be who we’re looking for!

PARKER
Nice work, Lily!

CHANEL
Yeah, that’s pretty impressive.

(Kyle’s yell rings out across town.)

OLIVER
… what in the world was that?

LILY
Wh-whoa! I just felt a huge surge of energy coming from that direction!

SETH
Something’s going on! I can feel it! We should go find out what it is–!

TORKE
Hold on now… I think we should split up. Someone has to stay and watch over the body, I think.

OLIVER
You’re right. How about…

SETH
Hey! Hey Chief!

OLIVER
Seth? You want to guard the body?

SETH
What? That’s not–

OLIVER
Lovely! You and Alita can stay here and do that, then. The rest of you, come with me! We’re going to find out who caused this!

(They leave.)

SETH
… DAMN IT!

(Pause, running sounds)

NARRATOR
Oliver, Torke, and the other four officers barreled down a street toward the energy Lily had felt.

PARKER
Huh… someone’s out there on the street, I can make out a group of people.

DIPPER
It looks like there’s been another attack, I see someone on the ground!

CHANEL
Lily, what can you sense?

LILY (concentrating)
Uummm… I can’t really sense the strange aura coming from ahead of us anymore… but there’s–

(There is a sound cue as Lily feels Gengar’s presence.)

LILY (gasping)
Someone just passed us by!

DIPPER
What? That doesn’t make any sense, there’s nobody walking near us.

LILY
Wait… if we can’t see them, then that means…

CHANEL
We’re dealing with a ghost-type outlaw?

PARKER
That’s our specialty, team!

Chief, wait up!

OLIVER
Huh? Yes, Parker, did you find something?

PARKER
We believe we’re dealing with ghost-type outlaws here.

LILY
Y-yes, and they’re fleeing fast!

OLIVER
Well, then, you four can chase after them! We’ll deal with whatever’s going on up ahead.

Make us proud, ghost-catching team!
