POLL:UI and Mechanics
Added 2021-03-08 19:00:03 +0000 UTCHello everyone, for our next poll and discussion, we need your help to decide how to handle UI. We've narrowed it down to a few choices,
Fatal Frame Style - The "health bar" will show on screen when the ghost is nearby or chasing you. then fade away when you are in a safe area. We would also allow the correct item to be used on interactions automatically if they are in your inventory.
Resident Evil style - The player will need to frequently check their inventory (PDA) screen to see their health status. Player will also need to try each item in their inventory on interactions manually. "Automatic" item use will not be possible.
For reference;
Player health - will be broken down into 3 states.
- "safe", meaning the player has a defense item that will save them from harm one time.
- "OK", the player has no defensive item, but has not taken any damage.
- "Warning", in which the player has been "hit" once and will die if "hit" again.
Inventory - we will poll this in a future post, but we are very seriously considering and will likely use a 4 item inventory cap. Kaho has a small back-pack, but that is all she can carry besides her PDA. Duplicate items can be stacked, but this will force the player to consider their route in the park and carefully plan out their chain of interaction while avoiding the ghosts.
