Dear Patrons,

This is an updated version of test build, which we would like you to try. It includes the same features as the previous one, but with a significant change in how actions are controlled under hood. We finished to replace the previously programming with gameplay abilities, which allows us to separate game states and switch them easily based on the situation.

The test currently includes 5 abilities: Locomotion, Sleep, Melee Attack, Water Power, and View Animations. The Locomotion ability, being the most sophisticated of all, includes four skills: moving on the surface, falling, swimming, and using ladders. The number of skills is not limited and later will add flying and climbing walls. Each skill has a unique control context and players will not be able to use some skill while others are active. For example, you cannot use hand-to-hand combat while swimming or move the character while viewing animations.

We have also activated the multiplayer support in this version and you can test it on your machine or over a local network. Please note that multiplayer development is not our primary focus, so some elements may not be replicated from the server to the client and vice versa. To test, start the prototype on different machines in LAN or two instances on the same machine. On one of the instances, click "new story", and on the other "co-op mode".

Additionally, this test build includes changes in camera movement control. Previously, the camera was "attached to the back" of the character, and if the character turned around, the camera would follow him sharply. However, we found that this type of camera can be uncomfortable for players in some situations, such as when you need to climb a ladder while swimming in the water. Therefore, we have decided to test another option, where the camera seems to follow the player, like in the Ni no Kuni game. We would love to hear your feedback on this change and whether you find it more comfortable or not.

Thank you! In fact, the reason we didn't do vanilla wasd+mouse controls is metroidvania style. We only sometimes wanted to turn on the camera to follow the character. Will see if we can improve it somehow. ;)

Movement is a bit clunky. I keep wanting to change camera position with my mouse and expect the WASD to adapt with it like it would with Skyrim or SWTOR.
