Longbow, rare (requires attunement)
___
This twisted longbow is crafted through an alchemical ritual that blends bat fur, ash, blood, and wood into a sentient weapon, forever thirsty. You gain a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic longbow.
In its dormant state, the bow appears as a mundane wooden weapon, except for its perpetual coldness to the touch. The bow has 3 charges and regains all expended uses everyday at dusk. As a bonus action, you can expend a charge to awaken its true form.
Awakened Spawn. When you activate the bow, a glowing red eye opens in its center, bony spikes sprout through the wood, and a mouth with sharp teeth bites your hand, dealing 1d4+1 necrotic damage. This damage can’t be reduced in any way, and your maximum HP is reduced by an amount equal to the necrotic damage taken. For as long as the bow is awakened, it coats all arrows with cursed blood, causing extra necrotic damage equal to the damage you took when activating it.
Marked Prey. While the bow remains awakened, you have advantage on any Wisdom (Perception) or Wisdom (Survival) checks made to track a creature that has taken damage from one of its cursed arrows.
While awakened, the bow communicates with you telepathically, always pleading for blood. These effects last for 1 hour or until you dismiss them.
