Less is more is how I approached these.
Focus on clear shape language. Seeing the colouring without the lines can help indicate if the drawing is clear with its shapes!
Measuring the facial features can be tricky but what I try to do is, how many eyes long is the nose? How many eyes wide is the side of the face? How many lips far is the mouth from the bottom of the nose? Questions like these can help understand proportions better ^>^
Remember to give the head hair some volume on the top/sides. Sometimes it's easy to miss and the skull will end up lacking dimension because of it.
