Hello everyone!
Thank you, as always, for your continued support and commitment to the Mossy Bottom family! I hope, by now, you've all seen my latest, long overdue, YouTube video, featuring our new home in the pine forests of south-west Finland. The response to it has been overwhelmingly positive, and the encouragement has been humbling, reminding me, yet again, why I create content and why I love the community that has grown around that content so much. Having you guys is truly life enriching!
But this post isn't just a thank you. As you all know, I have a partner, Angela. We first met in 2019 when she came to volunteer at Mossy Bottom, preferring to spend her one week off medical school in Germany helping me pull up weeds and clean out chicken coops rather than take a real vacation. She's been a constant in my life ever since, and our daughter, Juno, has brought me more joy than I thought possible.
Right now our "to do" list is a little terrifying; restore a hundred-year-old house and outbuildings, create a self-sufficient smallholding from wasteland, learn a new language, navigate the bureaucracy of moving to a country in which neither of us has friends or family, create videos to share our adventure with you, and, of course, try to raise our daughter. Not forgetting Angela has to pass a licensing exam, and complete an internship in Turku university hospital. But heck, that's what we signed up for, and we firmly believe that life is best lived doing the things that you love. So, in that spirit, I'd also like to announce the beginning of a new blog exclusive to members here on Patreon, and this time, it will be written entirely by Angela.
Many of you have expressed a desire to get to know her better, and, despite being a tad camera shy at times, she is a fantastic writer and has a great deal to say, be it on life in Finland, self-sufficiency, or just putting up with my many impassioned projects. I'm sure she'll share things that I wouldn't dare...
Expect the first episode in the next week or two exclusively for members here on Patreon.
All the very best,
Daniel
