John Fetterman

Greetings, municipality fans! This one starts out funny but ends up sad – much like the career of our guy here. Behold: The Oaf's Lament.

Municipal meeting minutes include: Riley’s face sand table, oaf credentials, why is this pamphlet chained up?, the dusty pediment at the Kennedy School, the mayor has two bodies, the jeans runner, accidental discharge, and the municipal soul.

If I had a nickel for every time this podcast riffed on a university, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice.

I know Maddie says there are “Kidnapped” posters everywhere, and maybe I just frequent different parts of the city than she does, but the last time I saw one here in NYC was when I walked down Madison Avenue from my psychiatrist on 86th Street to the Tod’s store on 60th last fall, and I saw precisely one cluster of “Kidnapped” posters, and they were extremely weathered. Also I live in Crown Heights, and despite the presence of Chabad I don’t think I’ve ever seen any “Kidnapped” posters near my apartment. This is to say that it seems like the response to the genocide in Gaza in some of the most Jewish places on earth here in NYC has been to act like Oct 7th never happened, that there is no war, and that consequently there are no hostages. On an unrelated note, my attitude towards Israel is that Israel does not exist.
