I hope you’re all well and keeping cool wherever you are in the world. The UK has been having a nasty heatwave 😪
Let’s get right in to it: I’m (evidently) running behind on the video. Nobody cares about excuses but quite a few unexpected things cropped up this month, including me getting a new job (?!!! more on that when I actually start in a few months’ time). The script was definitely an uphill battle, but I finally managed to get a solid draft down and am now in the editing stage, which I don’t expect to take too long at all. My estimate for the video length is still somewhere in the realm of an hour and a half, so it’ll be nice and substantial! This makes it a little hard to predict how long the editing will take, but I'll be back in another week or two so I keep you guys updated all the way to upload day. For those who are interested, about half of the script is dedicated to Natsuhi/Eva/Rosa/Kyrie, and about half to Sayo exclusively. It’s essentially a series of character analyses centred around the core theme of the essay.
I've been hard at work, so I really haven't been doing much reading or watching anything this year, but I did listen to the new Guardian podcast Missing in the Amazon and it's the best I've experienced in a while. I didn't know anything going in and think it's better experienced this way, but if you have any interest in environmentalism and the rights of indigenous people, it will be particularly of interest. It's extremely well-produced and told and I was very impressed with it.
I also enjoyed this video on Persona 5 from Infomercial, despite never having played it!
