February Updates
Added 2025-03-02 19:39:15 +0000 UTCHi everyone!
How are you all? This month went pretty quickly for me -- I spent a week of it in Ireland, and otherwise am very much enjoying what feels like the very beginnings of spring, especially this weekend.
After finishing up my Umineko re-read last month, I finished up the bonus content and have been focusing on my first read of the manga, the last big step before beginning video production. The last bit of bonus content to get through was Umineko Saku, which was fine, but didn't really add anything substantial to the story for me. I then read the manga adaptations of Episode 3 and 4. I read 1 and 2 previously but realised that if I left reading the manga until after the sound novel, it would effectively function as my third read of Umineko overall and help me really nail down what I want to say in my videos. The adaptation of Episode 4 particularly helped me add to my notes as it's one of the more key episodes for what I want to explore in my video/s. I'm looking forward to the rest. I'm going to try to get the majority of the manga read done in March with tentative hopes to begin video production in April (when I'll also nail down and tell you guys exactly what the video/s will be).
Otherwise, I also finished my first ever watch of Cowboy Bebop in February! I've been making an effort to get through the anime classics I really should have seen by now in recent years, albeit very slowly. This one took a while, but the episodic nature of the show kind of leant itself to watching one here and there when I was in the mood. I did enjoy Bebop, but by its nature it was never going to be an absolute favourite of mine. I wouldn't say I struggled with the lack of strong character narratives because establishing those clearly wasn't the show's aim, but for me it did mean having less of an attachment to the show as a whole. I, of course, enjoyed the show's soundtrack and cinematography and particularly loved the final two episodes. I won't remember Bebop as a favourite, but it's good to have ticked it off the list.
Finally, Avinovel Workshop is a new channel I've found with a video on Higurashi. Micah Edmonds has also just finished off a series of essays on Pixar films, which I would typically have very little interest in, but have really enjoyed.
That's all for this month. Speak soon!

Having that much of a collection is v impressive, I'm lucky enough to have the first three episodes from back when they were actually in circulation and going for their original retail price but will probably be all I ever have now, hoping for a reprint as well!!
