October Updates

Hi everyone!

How are you all? Things feel very different in the UK now that the clocks have gone back, though it's still sort of warm. October was my birthday month -- I turned 27 on the 10th. I had a big party for the first time which was really nice. The second half of the month was a bit flat, I've been feeling sort of uninspired. I did manage to go to Miku Expo here in London for the third time which was awesome! I've also been thoroughly enjoying Big Brother.

I haven't made tons of progress with Umineko and am still at the start of Episode 7, but am off work next week, so hoping to make good headway then to make up for it. I really enjoyed re-reading Episode 6 in particular, took tons of notes and feel like it very much solidified the focus of my probable first video. We're getting there!

In terms of media, I only managed to finish The Retrievals, a podcast series by Serial Productions. I'm a big fan of everything Serial Productions make for their journalistic integrity and top-notch storytelling abilities and can recommend all their series that I've listened to. The Retrievals is a shorter series exploring a huge medical malpractice case at a Yale University-run fertility clinic, where one of the nurses struggling with substance abuse was stealing fentanyl and replacing it with saline, resulting in potentially hundreds of women undergoing excruciating procedures with no pain relief. The series focuses more broadly on why so many of these women reported their experience and weren't taken seriously or believed. It's an at times horrifying but fascinating listen that really struck a chord with me.

In terms of videos, I have to shout out the end to Billiam's Lost retrospective series which I've loved.

That's all for this month, speak soon!
