The Power of Tokyo Godfathers

Hello everyone!!!!

SO it's been a little while. I actually finished editing the new video probably close to a month ago now but have run into unexpected copyright issues trying to get it up on YouTube (I previously uploaded the 7-minute-ish preview and had none so had been hoping that would go for the whole video but alas). I've been trying to sort things out but it's not made very easy by YouTube's copyright system. It only tells you about one flagged bit of footage at a time so that I have to re-edit, re-export and re-upload multiple times to see all the issues - I've been through this process almost twenty times now where I've been able to grab the time and am still getting flags. I have a good understanding of the issues but they're essentially indicating at this point that I'd need to re-edit the entire video in a different style to my usual - I have 0 desire to do this - or just upload the video as audio-only, which would be a huge shame.

It's a big headache I'm still trying to decide what to do about but I do have a more or less complete video sitting on my laptop so I realised there was no reason not to at least share it with you all! Some things:

I am RUSTY. I would be making some final tweaks to this before putting it up on YouTube anyway but I wouldn't call this video quite as polished on the production side as other stuff on my channel. I treated this as a semi-casual exercise in getting myself back into making videos, and keeping the channel alive, and I think it's (at least half) served its purpose. Even the script, which I would say is to my usual standard, is a little different in that I use the film as a springboard to talk about the issue of homelessness as a whole and do have stretches where I hardly reference Tokyo Godfathers, but I am really happy with my final analysis of the film itself too and how it all ties together. All in all this topic has become really close to my heart and it felt very personally important for me to make this video and reflect on what I've learned over the last year. Like I say at the end, I think it's a nice way to bridge the gap between my last upload and now.

I'm really bummed that I'm having these issues getting the video out to everyone as I feel like it's taken a huge amount of time and energy to get it all done and I have none left to deal with YouTube's bs. I'm really glad I can at least share it with you guys early, in its intended edit, as a small thank-you for your phenomenal patience and support.

I'll be back hopefully in the comings weeks with some kind of resolution so that I can also talk about plans moving forwards. For now, please enjoy the video and do let me know your thoughts!
