Comments

Hi and welcome. Thanks a lot for the comment! Yes, the machine shop said they'll heat up the end of the rod with the torch until the wtist pins has a slide fit, then put it quickly all together. I'm going to upgrade my jig to have a depth stop for the pin, or make a new jig entierly.

(I'm new to your Patreon channel and have not caught up on your newest videos, so apologies if you already know and have considered all the following.) If you're going to be installing the wrist pins into the rods and new pistons yourself, please consider heating the rods up rather than using a press. Or have the machine shop do it for you. Watch the first 12min of this video for what can go wrong if you do it incorrectly, as well as everything needed to press the pins in properly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTlchcUR-5k I have no doubt you can do it correctly with the proper tools, but I wonder if it's the best use of your time when it only takes seconds to do the same job using heat. Here's a different video of doing it using heat. Same channel, but a different engine. If the video doesn't automatically start in the right spot, the start of the wrist pin installation begins at 40:40. (Just ignore the first rod he heats to cherry red because he's pranking the audience.) https://youtu.be/O7xne_WgKyE?si=ZdVMNU1J0HcCx_p9&t=2440
