Darksprint v0.31 - Simplified Shadowrun Rules

Attached to this post is the first public release of the "Darksprint" rule set, a simplified version of Shadowrun we use to play Fun City. From the start of the doc:

Darksprint is a simplified (and partially expanded) Shadowrun rules set based on the 5E CRB, which you will need access to for this document to work. It may work alongside other editions of Shadowrun, but they are untested. This ruleset is the result of many hundreds of hours played by the cast of Fun City, learning what we like and don’t like about the stock SR rules. These rules codify how we tend to play Shadowrun, how we have shifted and adjusted and changed it to suit our needs.
This redesign principally addresses our two biggest frustrations: speed and narrative impact. These rules make no changes to the setting of Shadowrun. Rather, they seek to decrease the time spent consulting the book by vastly paring down active skills, decking, magic, resonance and some combat rules. It puts a lot of power in the hands of the players and their GM to decide what is right in the moment, rather than digging through the book for the “correct” answer.
These rules also seek to inject more narrative impact through the creation of Hallmarks: powers written for specific archetypes and playstyles. Hallmarks use Edge and many have a Stillfleet-esque “it just works” (no rolling required) style.
It can be assumed that any rules not addressed in this document can be played as originally written, or safely ignored. If at the table you find yourself wanting more structure, feel free to consult the CRB or better yet: write a house rule that works best for your playgroup. But again, this document is meant to be used alongside SR5e, not instead of it.

This document is edited (thanks to Aaron, Logossz, Nomad64 and dzbee for the help) but you may still find errors and typos. If you find stuff that makes game play difficult or unclear, please drop a line here, or on the FC Discord. This document will likely change and grow as we play more, though my intention is that it remain as short as is useful. Additional versions will be published similarly – for Patrons only, as PDFs – until some other approach is needed for whatever reason.

Please do not distribute this document publicly. Please play home games with it! If you'd like to use this rule set to make any kind of Content™ (podcast, stream, etc) please check with Mike first.

Thank you!
