Starting from 「drawing off a reference video to just mimic the silhouette」 to realizing that nothing loops perfectly in nature and it should in my animation and studying muscle recoil waves and finally BREAKING THE TAIL INTO LEAF-LIKE SEGMENTS TO UNDERSTAND DIFFERENT DANCE ROUTINES FINE HAIRS OF A HORSE TAIL ARE DOING.
Because in the footage I was looking at it was not some left-right wag. Along its length the tail does a low amplitude wave with a tip almost always pointing straight WHILE the base is swinging at a higher frequency like a charmed snake!
Interesting thing is that if I chose to rotoscope or trace instead of analyzing and representing it in animation it would not have been the same at all. There is a difference between a DESIGNED animation and just trying to copy something from nature.
There was no short last week because of this horses behind! But this week it's SAKUGA time. Wait, I am going to show you the muscle study...
