Our Ollie was horribly abused in a former situation. Part of his tail is missing, one rear foot is swished and he cannot meow. We think college students had him as he knows people food, especially pizza. We treat him with high regard and only do as he allows. He does, however, eat cat food (a brand name SMALLS) which is human grade and he will accept it. We’ve had him 10+ years and still he does not fully trust. I guess once buried twice shy.

2025-10-26 13:01:44 +0000 UTCWe have a cat who, in her previous home, received inconsistent messages from her humans. She's the sweetest cat we've ever seen, but she can't fully trust her humans. When we became aware of what makes her tick, we turned consistency up to 11 and she is slowly dropping her guard. So when we need to cajole her out of hiding, she always gets the treat. Being a cat of course means that she won't eat the treat until we're out of sight, but that's a different issue :-)
