TopMapper just launched. What's next?
Added 2024-08-12 20:06:26 +0000 UTCI hope you all are creating and enjoying maps of your favorite songs with the current version of TopMapper, but I also hope that this is just the start of what TopMapper could be in the future.
I have a lot of ideas for the future of TopMapper, but I'll need a strong foundation to build them upon. Because of this. I'd like to start by enhancing the models musical understanding- make it better at understanding how many notes to place and when to place them.
The current system can have very good results, but will often randomly struggle with songs that have a clear and defined beat. Specifically, my goal is to consistently generate maps where ArcViewers "tick" sound is on time with the beat in the song, not just to generate maps that just "feel on beat".
Earlier versions of TopMapper (and likely the public version too) will also sometimes be possessed by a certain note pattern and attempt to use it throughout the entire rest of the song. In extreme cases, it even maps over silence with the pattern. While some of this has been solved without retraining the model, I'd like to not have to rely on workarounds to achieve passable performance.
Finally, I'm sure everyone subscribing wants to know what their money will be used for. To keep it vague and simple, TopMapper's hosting is... dubious. It works (or so I hope), but I'd love to host TopMapper "the correct way".
Thanks for taking a look at the Patreon. I'm looking forward to working on this more, so be sure to check back here and on topmapper.net for updates!

The issue is from the audio files you upload to the website. They use some kind of video container to store album art, which isn’t stripped during map creation. BMBF doesn’t know how to handle it. Using an online converter or the “-vn” flag with FFMPEG before uploading the audio should make it work (which is what I added to the website) BMBF also doesn’t clean up after itself if it fails, so the ZIP file must be named something different each upload attempt otherwise you’ll receive a different error. Personally, I’d recommend migrating to ModsBeforeFriday given that you’re on Quest 2.

2024-08-22 07:51:59 +0000 UTCTopMapper thank you for fixing the two songs I sent you! However, I'm still having issues in adding them to my Quest 2 (Sidequest > BMBF). If you hear from anyone with a Quest 2, please let me know! I tried two different methods: - BMBF loader > paste Zipped/unzipped folder - Sidequest > BMBF sideload (Folder: "CustomLevels") > Paste zipped/unzipped folder

2024-08-18 11:32:54 +0000 UTCThanks for taking a look at TopMapper and letting me know. Someone brought this up on Reddit, so I'm looking into it and hope to have it fixed soon While you're waiting, I suggest trying to manually unzip and copy the map folder to your Quest, which should be located in BMBFData/CustomSongs or similar. I'd love to help more but I don't have access to a BMBF modded Quest at the moment.

2024-08-14 20:26:29 +0000 UTCYour software is amazing! I mapped a couple of songs and really like the online preview, but I'm struggling to import them to BMBF. Any tips or advice? I get an error message
