Progress with mechas

This is how they're working as of now. They have movement AI, destroyable weapons/systems, but are otherwise indestructible to protect its pilot. The pilot can be any NPC, though not one of your reinforcements, as I haven't worked on that at the moment.

Started working on a new enemy

Heavy assault mecha, piloted by a regular enemy. Used by Orchid Rain Corp. to establish total dominance in the field.

Weak points:

  • Main cannon energy storage balls
  • Secondary rapid-fire side turrets
  • Searchlights at the top of the cockpit
  • Control systems panel at the back

Possibly driveable by the player in the future.

While I'm still working on code, I also started working on new accessories for this system. Mission 07 early build updated

Hi all. Sorry for the long delay! These new set of features are proving to be challenging for me to code. In this update you'll be able to access a new sub menu in the Character management terminal, at the bottom of the Customization tab, called Accessories. Here you can equip and unequip cosmetic accessories for your characters. Currently there are only a few, the ones that come with the came as of now, but I'll add more in the future.

Mainly I retouched the lighting in The Institute areas to better match the lighting in the rest of the game. Specially inside Sex Research you'll note the colors are flatter, instead of softer as it currently was.

I've also tweaked the AI a little to try to make it more responsive after the big "nerf" that the last update ended up being, due to some of my optimization methods.

I've made available the latest version of the game on itch. This time I'm including the free demo right from the start. I will try to make the time to produce a couple of maps for the game in the coming days, hopefully try to record a video with the process as well.

Note to patrons who have played with the early builds. If boots taken off are not being saved, you'll need to clear your progress. Go to settings and press the Clear Progress button, then restart the game.

Patreon taxation changes notice

Patreon is apparently changing some things about how taxes are calculated for your pledges. Though there isn't specific information about this, we creators have been told that you guys might be charged an unspecified amount more than before, depending on where you are in the world. I can't imagine this would be a very big increase in payments for you, but I don't have much information on this.

Use the middle "terminal" (black box) in the room you start in The Institute. Go to the Customize tab and you'll see two buttons you can use to remove the foot wear if the character has any. This change to their appearance will be saved to your personal save file.

Showing a bit more of the new sex system

I'm making the current first person sex compatible with this new system. I also tweaked the animations (and will continue to do so, probably, for ever). I'm not totally on board with some of the facial expressions, so I will keep working on them as well. Also, excuse the terrible UI! I'm focusing on functionality for now.

Should I wait for next month?

I'm uncertain if I'll have enough new features for a new release this 30th. Almost always at this stage the majority of the work go to things that are really not that visible at the user end of the game. Saying that, I want to ask you if you'd rather wait until the next month or if you'd be okay with a smaller new build of the game.

About Mission 06 build

This month was a bit difficult productivity wise, and I didn't accomplish everything that I planned initially. I still have a week, so I'm prioritizing the more "visible" part of the new features for the game I was aiming for the Mission 06 build. That is a new sex system that will go hand in hand with the meta-game mechanics that will take place in The Institute.

Optimized NPCs

These past days I've been sick, so my output went down a bit, but I managed to make some progress in an area that started to worry me. When populating The Institute with some test NPCs, I discovered that there were some areas in my code that were piling up badly, and performance of the game was dropping unnecessarily. I took the time to make some optimizations and now maps can handle a higher number of characters.

I'm still working in optimizing, but so far I'm seeing good results.
